Do U respect Vialli?.......

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Well I know most on here do. He's been used as a battering ram against the Wizard on many many occasions...so..I just wanna point out to a select few......Kia-Ora (a bird)...Galaxy (a bird) Bud etc thatv while you lot were panning Roy Keane on here....Vialli was praising him..ya see...in Vialli's own words...Roy Keane is a winner. So Vialli painted a picture of determination and eagerness...that spilled over....acceptable but unfortunate...yet you shower just see throught that green haze.

Roll on Sunday....It's pay-back time.

Muhahahahahahaha

Payback time for what, precisely?

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

Payback time for dissing the Wizzard's warrior:-)....of course.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

Of, he of the "kick minors when they ask for autographs" fame?

"Roy Keane, superstar, How many kids have you kicked so far?"

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

>> "acceptable but unfortunate."
You really are a tosser if you think Keane's "challenge" was acceptable. He should have been jailed for assault never mind sent off!

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

Have you seen the rantings of Lebouf against Vialli, he might as well hand him a transfer request!!

LR, Keane is well respected for his footballing ability and the effect he has on your lot, but he does let himself down with some f###ing dumb acts doesn't he? Anyone with an ounce of common sense wouldn't have raked down the back of Poyet on Sunday! Just as well it was Poyet though, another monkey in the Premiership.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

I think the respect goes to most football managers in recognition of the fact that most of the time they're all on a hiding to nothing. However, Vialli seems able to cope with slip-ups with a little more grace than Taggart; I can't recall a Taggart interview where he'll actually admnit to being turned over by a better (on the day) side.

Too many soor plums as a boy.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

look, I have no idea what your on about, wizard? Have I stumbled onto the dungeons and dragons b board? If I think your on about the Sundays spat the all I'd say is that 1) yes Keane is a top player, no doubting. 2) would I have him in my team more yes than no. but c) was one of the worst tackles I've ever seen? You bet and to my mind it was dangerous, Red mist or not Vialli is playing mind games and you are buying it. Don't get me wrong LR, see points one and two, but for the Manchester United Captain for be quite so viscious would worry me. Being competitive is to be admired I hasten to add....

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

Yes, I respect Vialli but I certainly don't respect Keane. He's a good footballer, but there's no place in the game for a tosser who is prepared to put the career of a fellow professional in jeopardy. And you can't deny it LR. That "tackle" could have put Poyet out for life.

What seems to have been missed is that it wasn't simply a reaction to an admitedly bad tacklwe on Keane by JFH (tho' IMHO not premeditated like Leane's was). No, I think Keane singled out Poyet for two reasons (i) I believe there is a bit of "previous" between them and (ii) Poyet was in close attendance when Keane went down and caught him with his elbow. Again, I do not believe that was intentional. But Keane obviously thought it was a went for Poyet as soon as thge opportunity arose. Nowt subtle mind you (as if). Right in front of the ref (who we all now know was at fault for showing a bit of charity). Shame the Wizard of OT didn't see fit to act a bit earlier himself.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

You'd have thought with Keane's reputation and taking into account the importance of the match (not very) Lord Fergie would have taken the opportunity of replacing Keane with Nicky Butt. Fergie must know more than most that when Keane and 'Pob' lookalike, JFH had their little spat, Keane would try and sort someone out. It always happens.

I don't think NH really cared about losing the match anyway so why bother risking Keane out there against the likes of Wise and Poyet who will always flare up. Ok you don't want to be seen shying away from the situation but you have to look at the situation in a month's time after NH have played three games without their captain.

I read all your points with great interest..especially the comments on the "career threatening" tackle...yet I did battle against a good many of you when U tried to defend WGB when he attempted to take that bloke Lennon's head away from his shoulders. THAT was GBH. Deffo!!

Not defending the tackle or the way Keane plays....rather more pointing out the opposite reflection the Chelsea manager had on the takle as opposed to you lot....neutrals (sic). Vialli saw through the tackle..U lot never. Vialli sees Keane as the most competitive battler in the league...U lot see him as a child kicking drunken thug.

You can not deny that Keane is a hard man..he gets his fair share of whacks and he doesn't roll around on the floor doing amateur dramatics. He's usually up and after the ball straight away. When he commits a second bookable....he accepts it...always has done..in fact he plays for the game now.....not in the future..that's why he missed important cup finals and that's why he;ll mis the start of the season.

Roy Keane is no more a hooligan than your once time hero David Battery...the dirty slimey Yorkshire bastid!!

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

>"U lot see him as a child kicking drunken thug. "

well, when we see a child kicking drunken thug, we call him a child kicking drunken thug.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

LR, you may have missed the discussion on here of Roy Keane and his reported treatment of a kid who dared ask for his autograph at SJP.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

"After a tackle he's usually up and after the ball straight away"

Bollocks, he's usually trying to goad the other player into a fight or mouthing off at somebody.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

LR, sticky wicket mate. Teams need ball winners, they need tough characters in the middle of the park. But Roy Keane has a real nasty streak. Whilst I am not saying he is alone, you have to admit it was extreme in its violence and worrying in that it hit just above the exposed achilles. Deliberately. It was in no way a 'crime of passion either' as it came some minutes later. As to Vialli, either he is being nice in order that the FA won't gie him more than three games out, or as I suspect, he's playing games.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

Roy Keane? Excellent player: undisciplined yob.

Frankly, I hope he continues behaving precisely the way he did on Sunday as he'll sit more games than he plays this season.

Batty? Played exceptionally well AND in a disciplined manner for KK, but resumed a more Keanesque style under Dalglish - this shows the impact of the managerial influence, and IMO explains why RK has become such a head-banger under Taggart.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

David Batty - sent off twice in his career

Roy Keane - sent off so many times,we've lost count.

And they're the same are t\hey?

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

Roy Keane is a thug and a disgrace to the beautiful game.

Do you respect Alec Ferguson? No, me neither but the whinging git did say that Keane was out of order on Sunday. Of course the ungracious git then when on to blame the ref for not issuing yellows earlier.

What would he have said if yellows had been issued earlier to Heath players in a CHARITY match? AF is the most ungracious winner and the worst loser in football. He deserves to have that twat Master Bates on his back.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

Did you hear Souness's comments after the game? How can he preach about wreckless challenges after his time at Rangers in particular!

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

I'd love to see Roy Keane get chinned, right in the middle of his own house. It's gonna happen one day, one day he is going to try and break someone in two and he is going to get his fu**in' bell rang. I'll be the first one to shake that lads hand. Who's going to do it? I don't know but it has to be soon though, Keane will self destruct, he is the Tyson of Football, irrepressable at times, other times not so much. That's why I'd love Duncan to stay so he can do it. Knock his piggin head off. Keane will be sent off again before sept 15 any takers?

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

Syme..you are just a thug..no better than the alleged thug yer pointing the croocked finger at. Well feck me!!! Jonno just hates winners...simple as that. I have total respect for The Wizard. He's a winner. Look..we had nice guys..Wilf McGuinnes (sp), Dave Sexton, B-F- R....all nice guys...none of them winners. The Premiership isn't a kids party.....smiles and back slaps a la Graham Taylor and Bobby Robson will win ya jack shit.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

What's all this Wizard B*ll*cks? What, does he suddenly disappear?

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

Not quite TM, he can take all Newton Heath's European Cup hopes, say the magic words "I'll have 50k a week Martin!", and make them all disappear with an own goal against Real Madrid. F*ckin' magic!

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

>>>>>Jonno just hates winners...simple as that.

Wrong yet again! For example, I LOVE Real Madrid! I've been a lifelong fan for most of this year. (-; Haven't they got more than three times as many Euro Championships as the World's Biggest Football Club?

I quite admired the Liverpool era, I liked Leeds during their success, had no objections to title wins by Arsenal, Forest, Everton, Man City, Villa, Forest, Derby and so on. I loved Brazil in their heyday - indeed the only team I have ever taken any serious exception to is the WBFC and I formed that opinion long before they won their first Euro Cup.

Facts LR. Carry on ignoring them, as ever, and make up your own stories. You continue to paint a picture of me which is entirely false, fed, presumably, by your own prejudices.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

Oh aye, LR. It was being nice that won Bobby Robson Cups and titles in four countries. Oh, and taking his country to qf and sf in two World Cups.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

No Jonno...there's only one man on here that feeds the Bear....and that's himself.

Enjoy those past glories Booboo.....like I really give a shite :-)

PS...Greatness isn't in past silver..it's in breeding. With all of Liverpool's Euro cups and all of Real's Euro Cups...the two clubs you'll always hear talked about are United and Barcelona.

Listen Ya manc twat what exactly makes me a thug, the fact that I want someone who so readily dishes it out get his pram rattled. Give me a F**kin' break. You and taggart are of the same cloth whinging little pram pushers if you doesn't go your way something must be wrong. Take yer prima donnas and your "Theatre of dreams" don't make me laugh and take a look around you, take a long look, because pretty soon it's all going to be over. hugs and kisses

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

What ever did Whitley Bay Football Club do to upset you Jonno? Beat Seghill did they?

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

'Puff the Magic Dragon' is a more appropriate tag than 'Wizard' - when he disappears from the scene the trophies will surely evaporate with him.
Then, just watch the scrambling of 'the faithful' to acquire ST's elsewhere 'in the continuing search for success'.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

Ah that same moment in time when Erikkson takes over and realises he can't spend 80 million in the close season and resigns. Martin O'Neill takes over because he can build good mid table teams with hardly any money. O'Neill sells Keane, Beckham and Scholes because he has been offered 130 mill for them all and thinks, "if Gerry Taggart only cost 500,000 I must get hell of a player for 3 mill".

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

>>>>>Beat Seghill did they?

Probably. Most teams did. (-;

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

Ok - I`ve just got back home and read this thread. Two things about your initial posting have really p!ssed me off LR! Firstly, what on earth difference does my gender make? Why did you feel it necessay to point it out - does it make my opinions less valid or something?!

Secondly, you must have a pretty short memory - I have usually gone against the grain on here by actually giving ManU full credit for their achievements. I have also gone on record many times praising various players from ManU - Mr. Keane in particular. I have leapt to the defense of Beckham when I felt he was being unjustly critisised, and accept that ManU`s success has been hard fought and well won.

IMHO Keane is out of control and his behaviour in the Charity Shield, for heavens sake, was not a credit to your Club. Did you see the adverts for the Charity Shield? They were amazing, if a little discomforting. Those physically challenged players were showing real grit and determination - and deserved better than the display they got from Keane.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

So, to sum up then, folk think Keane is a great player, but a nutter. Folk also thinks Taggart is a bad loser. Any surprises LR?

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

Dunx - in your summing up, you didn't say what you thought of LR ;-)

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

GREATNESS - is having the humility to accept victory and defeat with equal gracefulness.

something you, your manager, your players and your fellow fans know absolutely NOTHING about.

Well bliddy said Min. Spot on.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

LR has done it again, a topical way to describe his opening shot is to place him alongside Mag Trout in getting the masses wound up, its due to lack of pure oxygen in his former life , I looked at the thread and only two things would prompt me to react-: 1..Anyone thinking that THAT career threatening tackle was the work of a winner defies logic, pointless debating it. 2..Jonno pal , gotta disagree, quote "personally admired Leeds", hey good team, but cunning with it, they would make the present NH look like fairies, The Buzzard`s (sorry wizard!!) countryman, lil Johny Giles would have kicked 10 bells oot of him, then lil Billy Bremmer, not forgetting Gatesheed Norman and thats before you get to Big Jack. LR you are some machine, just support the wrong team

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

Extract from Joey Harpers Column, Aberdeen Evening Express, 15/08 headed Charity Shield shame with photo of The Buzzard to the fore -; i see my old mate Alex Ferguson is up to his old tricks again. In the CS match against Chelsea all of the Manchester players were trying to intinidate the referee. It was a certainity that Roy Keane was going to be sent off, even though he thinks he has a divine right to kick players whenever he likes. He deserved to be sent off for that x-rated tackle on Poyet, but all the Manchester players were shouting and swearing at the ref, Fergie used that trick when I played under him at Aberdeen, he had Alex McLeish and Willy Miller trying to referee the match from the Don`s defence. Miller was well known for his attempts to influence referee`s over the years, nearly all the players did it because Fergie told us to. Aberdeen were a successful team then and that allowed us to have more of a go at the ref. Fergie clearly thinks his Manchester players should do the same.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2000

You are quite right Buff. LR`s postings are composed entirely for his own entertainment. I must admit, he caught me at a weak moment, but after re-reading and deleting half of my posting (the second half being unladylike to say the least),and extricating the hook from my mouth I decided to post a response anyway. I`m afraid I was just too annoyed to let it go - it was the next best thing to slapping the backs of his legs!(:o)

-- Anonymous, August 16, 2000

Oi Syme...chill out...I can't help it that my team is the dogs doofers while all U do is dream about Trebles.

Keep yer hugs....you'll need 'em by Sunday night.

-- Anonymous, August 16, 2000

Clarky..In all my time of wishing and praying that United would win the league I never once moaned to the Scousers that ONE DAY the wheels would fall of and I'd be laffin' me tits off. Ya see mate...I wouldn't want to give them any MORE satisfaction than they already had...being worthy champions an all that. Cheers mate.. I know...U know. :-)

LR, the sun sets on every Empire and it'll set on yours, too.

-- Anonymous, August 16, 2000

Galaxy...yer a bird....and sometimes birds just don't know what the feck is going on. That's all. Nowt personal. Anyway....ya can't take the moral high ground with me in any argument....remember I'm a Nazi hooligan allegedly.

No surprises there Dunc..I'm a bad loser too....and I'd hate anyone on my team that wasn't.

Min - It's fine saying that, it honestly is...but until you've actually been in the driving seat and won summat...ya know, to be able to feel victory as well as only despair a la NUFC, then yer words mean nowt. :) Good attempt mind.

One day Buff I'm gonna get you :-). One day mate you'll not see through it. You and Softus are hard nuts to crack.
