Yesterday's outage

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Yesterday's downtime appears to have been due a specific server failure on one of the clustered boxes running the Greenspun services. It was difficult to trace from this end because of the cluster and the fact that other subdomains (e.g. philip.greenspun.com) were responding perfectly. This was further hampered by the fact that Philip Greenspun is currently stuck in Cairns recovering from the bends. Ouch!!

It was quite obvious to us all I think that a failure in the clustered boxes was to blame but thanks for confirming the point Dunx. (-;

failure in the clustered boxes - seems a bit like the Newcastle defence on pre-season form

Can I borrow your explanation Dunx and post it on the Shih-Tzu Talkshop? They`ll think I`m dead clever! (;o)

Greenspun obviously need some "Max Factor Knacka Laquer" - it adds lustre to your cluster. Boom, boom!!

The old ones are the best - and that one is OLD, as well as rude.
