Air Transat passengers finally arrive in Montreal after two-day delay

MONTREAL (CP) - About 300 Air Transat passengers finally arrived in Montreal on Sunday - almost two days later than scheduled. The passengers were stranded in Bordeaux, France for about 40 hours due to mechanical problems with their plane.

The flight was further postponed when the replacement plane that was to meet them in France was delayed leaving Montreal. Airline spokesman Yves Doucette said the passengers were put up in a nearby hotel to wait out the delay. The airline also compensated each passenger with $350.

"To my knowledge, delays like that are very rare," said Doucette.

"Every time, the safety of our passengers is the priority."
