greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Pls help me what flat bed type(with 135film adapter)scanner(hp,epson, acer brand only)that can print my 135 neg into photorealistic print in 8x10 using my existing hp deskjet 930c printer. Using this printer, do you have comment on picture quality vs time if picture is filed in commercial album. Thank you very much.

I take it that you do not have a flatbed scanner and wish to use one for dual purposes. Check out the Epson line 1200 and 1600 scanners. They perform quite well. I use the Epson Perfection Pro-1600 for all scans from legal documents down to 35mm negs. With good photo editing software excellent prints can be done.

If it is just 35's that you need to scan, the HP PhotoSmart line is excellent for the price and will also scan prints/documents up to 5x7 inches.

With more information, such as your budget and specific needs, we can probably give more succinct advice and suggestions.

The HP 930 produces nice prints when a good photo quality paper is used. The important thing is the resolution of the scan. Most inexpensive flatbeds with add-on transparency adapters produce poor results. A good resource for prices and specifications is Outpost.com. Check them out - they carry the HP, Acer and Epson lines.
