Colorado - the state of my birth -- where I yet live -- is unique in that the State Capitol, Denver -- has most of the best of everything existing elsewhere. Clement weather -- compared to other states. Fewer tornados than most anywhere else. Near to the mountain recreation areas -- winter or summer. The Denver Art Museum (unique in it's contents and it's beautiful building) The new Denver Public Library and it's contents in a well thought out and beautiful building -- just east of the art museum. It's parks, It's great zoo in City Park. It's Natural History Museum (near the zoo). The Rockies Ball Park (new) The Bronco's Stadium (still building). The Pepsi Center where many different kinds of activities can take place. Mostly Sports events. Elitch's - Six Flags amusement park. Water World. One great thing is that the Rockies, Pepsi Center, Six Flags, and Bronco's are all within about five minutes drive. The National Jewish Health Center which carried on respiratory research after it's main search for a cure for Tuberculosis. The many hospitals and medical facilities here And so many more things than I can cram in here.

Arizona. For one thing, we don't have daylight savings time here. That's right, we DON'T have that annoying 'spring forward, fall back' nonsense. Also, more natural beauty in a variety of environments than you can imagine. We got deserts here, (where I dwell and sweat in the summber), we got tall mountains and pine tree forests, we have canyons (and I haven't been to the GRAND one yet, and we even have a few lakes. I love this state.

Michigan has hills and lakes and trees. It is, in my opinion, the best place in the mid west to live. Other midwestern states, such as Indiana and Ohio, have no hills or lakes or trees, just corn fields. I love swimming in lakes in a cold climate, I hate swimming in water that's hot as bath water. I love autumn and cool weather. All this natural beauty is, I suppose, worth the snow storms and roads that are constantly under construction.

ALASKA. Majestic landscape of mountains and glaciers. Beautiful wildlife. 24-hr sunlight in the summer. Only one main highway in the state, and even then, it only runs through 1/4 of the land mass. Airplanes are the major mode of transportation. We have 9 times as many registered pilots in Alaska (per capita) than anywhere else in the world. We have the largest floatplane base in the world, and the largest number of floatplane bases.

And of course, we have the largest mountain in North America, Mt. McKinley (At 20,320', it is known as "Denali", to Alaskans). My husband and niece just made their summit climb on Denali, July 23rd of this year.

Our proximity to Russia can make things interesting. At the nearest point, we are only 69 miles apart. Russian aircraft called "Bears" still test our military readiness by flying near - or across - our borders on a regular basis.
