Stadium thoughts.

Well they're all going crackers about St.James's. "The best stadium in Europe." according to some. The only trouble is that, we won't come into contact with these fantastic faciities. They're for the corporate types. I couldn't give a toss that we have a sumptuous banqueting suite. I'll be expected to pay, getting on for 30 bob, for a pie and be told to like it. As for the aesthetics of the ground; well when you consider the magnificent San Siro for example and then look at the three different styles of stands (and four if you're picky) at St.James's, then I'm afraid talk of the best in Europe is rather silly.

Having said that, I do appreciate the fact that nothing can be done with the east stand because of the houses behind. The main thing is that more lads and lasses are getting in the ground and for that I am truly grateful.

Meanwhile........I was sitting in Windy Nook, looking at the view through a pair of binoculars the other day; when I happened to look in the direction of Sunderland. I noticed that the cranes are still up around the SoS. Could it be that they won't be ready for the big kick-off? I smell a points deduction coming on. 40 points seems reasonable.

It was admitted yesterday that the S-of-S construction won't be complete for the opening game v the @rse. However, they reckon part of the stadium can be cordoned off, and that getting the required safety certificate won't be a problem.

Let's just hope they're wrong. In fact, let's pray the whole ghastly edifice slowly disappears into the old Monkwearmouth pit workings!

I reckon they've given me a posh seat by mistake so I will be sampling the delights of the Sports bar, at the price of a porper. hehehehehe. Your right though SMB it is very nice but does it compare to even some of the grounds that were used in Euro 2000. BTW SMB, you didn't used to sell sweets at the quayside market did yer?

That is the most bizarre question I've ever been asked but the answer is no anyway. Or am I missing the joke here?
