email for the blind

Okay, so I met this bird and I wanted to send her a special email with bells and whistles - like the ones those annoying advertisers send me (only soppier). They send them as html and I have to click to open them with browser on pegasus, or on web based mail packages they just open the way nature intended. How does this work? I've been conducting secret tests of my own - I've tried everything I can think of.

Any answers please?

Oh, I tried sending the htm file as an attachment - this just opens as an ordinary document and you get to see all my html. It's just not bloody fair!

Generally the only way you'll see an html file as intended is to open it in a browser. Unless your email is html enabled, and the user has turned on the option to view mail in html format. It's not very common so unless you know she's got the capability you're better off sending a .html file attachment and tell her to open it in a browser.

Then there's the browser compatibility issues...but we won't go there ;-)

Well, I've tried a few more things. I even set up a hotmail account to see if they do things differently. Indeed they do - and sending an html attachment seems to be a valid option. The only downside is that it results in two messages being received, both with the same heading/date/time thingies.

My yahoo account lets me send html, but it won't send the background for some reason, and the imbedded midi file doesn't work.

This is totally sad, and I apologise now for annoying you all with this, but I've taken a shine to this lass.

Can't speak for all females, but most of us find it quite charming when guys do goofy things like that...so keep at it. :-)

Dunno what to tell you as far as trying to get it to do everything with one click of the mouse. I would probably make the .html file be all you want it to be and attach it to a simple text email. Just tell her to open the attachment in a browser and let your .html file do the rest of the talking. Not quite as flashy, but may keep you from an early admission to the nut house. ;-)

Ever thought of popping round with a bunch of flowers and a bottle of wine/box of chocolates? Or is that too old fashioned?

Gibbo,

What happened to the lovely lady who was celebrated until recently in photographs on your web-site?
