What graphics utility best for mass conversion of digital pictures

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Hi

I've had a couple of different digital cameras over the past two years. I have amassed quite a collection of digital pictures, which I like putting on my web site. However, I like putting them up there in either 800x600 or 1024x768, and my new camera, the Canon S100 only takes in 1600x1200.

What I need is a piece of software that does mass conversion, where you can specify it to resize to maximum of 1024 on the X axis... is there any software out there which does this?

Thanks in advance Lachlan

Irfan's Iview32 will do all kinds of batch operations. It is freeware. It will also build a thumbnail web gallery.

While you can put images that size on your web site, for most people the download time is too slow and as a result no one will look at your page. If you want information on loading images to the web check out www.photo.net Your image size should be no larger than 50-75k for decent speed

There is a free download off the clubphoto.com website that lets you create albums from a folder of image files. It also lets you create a web page and specify the image size. It then creates a folder with the re-sized files which you can automatically upload to the clubphoto website (for free) or you can use those files for email or your own website. It's pretty quick and easy to use.
