Your dream career

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Gwen's Trailer Trash Forum : One Thread

I've been going to a lot of seminars lately, learning tons, and getting so into the subject matter that I'm totally regretting career choices I made long ago. Why on *earth* did I ever think I'd want to spend my life working with computers, when I could be the World's Greatest Animal Behaviorist by now? If you could do it all over again, knowing what you know now, what would your dream career be?

Rock star.

Trustafarian billionaire layabout.

a Supermodel!!!!!!

Trustafarian? I'm stealing that!

If I could figure out my dream career now, I'd make a run for it. I don't think it's ever too late (unless I wanted to be a child star or something.) I like to dabble in too many different things to commit myself properly.

Maybe a large veterinarian. You just can't step in too much horse crap.

I would love to have been an actress. Not a stage actress, because from doing high school and college theater I found that after, like, two performances I get bored. I would love to be on a t.v. show or in movies.

I'd be an owl.

I wish I knew. As a result, I've sat in the same office doing nothing for 8 years.

I'd be a philanthropist. They always seem to have lots of money.

Well, "large veterinarian" must have been a Freudian slip...I meant "large animal veterinarian"......time for vacation.

I'd like to run my own production company, one that developed movies, television shows, and destination Web sites (a special emphasis on non-profit, artsy, and killer content projects). And of course, money would be no object, so I could go after projects that wouldn't have to be popular blockbuster type things, but could just be good.

Second choice would be to just get paid huge bucks to do my site dellazine and be able to pay other people big bucks to work on it with me.

a singer or a guitar player.

Backup singer for Gwen.
Or actuarial programmer. Oh, that's what I am? Okay then!

Interesting question! I really like my career as it is right now, but it's not my dream career. What I'm doing now is managing the internal support helpdesk and the Unix system administrators for a software development company, and I do lots of web development (applications, etc).

My dream career is to be a Trustafarian (hey, we should all strive for that!) graphic designer.

Seriously, I wanna forget any real schooling I've ever had and just focus on my horse riding. I do it competitavely and it would kick ass to make a living out of it! So the dream plan is, I marry a musician, he makes it really big and gets filthy rich, and he can buy me my horse and stuff. Good plan, huh?

Pale Blue, the owls are not what they seem.

I wanna be a socialite. Barring that, a psychiatrist.

I was on track for my dream career -- getting paid to make snide comments while watching old movies -- then those Mystery Science Theater 3000 fuckers beat me to it. I will never forgive them! Never!

Actress-either on Broadway or in the movies...I want FAME!

Jill, wopuld you like some damn fine cherry pie (wrapped in plastic, natch) and a coffee with your answer? :) :)

I think I want to revise my answer. Seems like my cat has it pretty good. Maybe I could be a cat. Two not-hots and the whole house is his cot...nah, Trustafarian billionaire would be better.

Milla, perhaps you'd like to be a trustafarian's cat?

And that is some damn fine coffee!

Miaow, I say. Miaow.

A pampered housecat. My two have a pretty freaking plush life, I tell you.

Failing that, (and I'm actually working on this one) I want to run my own jewelry, vintage clothes, and Renaissance gear company. I would get to play with beads, sew, and go thrift-shopping a lot...well, I do that now, of course, but if this thing flies it would be my JOB to go to the Salvation Army on $.50 days...

Sigh. I need more time to work on these things...

Look -- I kill forum topics. That's my gift. That's what I should have done for a living.
