Wor Strip

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

This may be well known - but I have heard that NTL have insisted that the "away strip" will be worn at leat 5 times for Yhem Games as their logo shows up better. This could mean that the B&W will be worn on a minority of games in the season.
Could be a bad precendent - thin end of the wedge etc.
Please tell me that I am wrong.

True,

This is so utterly outrageous that I'm prepared to believe it ain't so - until proven otherwise.

If accurate - I would simply say that NTL could certainly "insist", but they don't run the Club and don't make the decisions. If they really have so "insisted", I would sincerely hope our Club Management would have the good sense and the testicles to tell them to 'go forth & multiply', and also if necessary to stick their money where the sun don't shine!!

Clarky, Yes - I cannot believe that this could be the case and I have had a long argument with the purveyor of this news making just your point.
But experience tells us to suspend disbelief. Certainly their logo is barely noticeable on the B&W.

WEll that would really be the fault of their desingers, wouldn't it? Who decided on the logo and colour scheme? And who signed off on the final version? This is exactly the kind of issue that is supposed to be ironed out before going to print. Once production has begun, they should have no right to complain. Just sack whoever is responsible and change it next season. I do hope this is just a crazy rumour. I can't believe the club would allow themselves to be bossed to that degree. :-/

A mate of mine has just bought his Spurs away strip, a rather fetching Navy Blue with white bits under the arms. I think I'm going to have to purchase our away strip now!

Aren't the strip combinations actually controlled by the FA? I thought each team had to submit their kit requests for each game and that if the FA didn't agree they could force you one way or the other?

That does sound familar, but maybe NTL are insisting on the new kit to be used in cup games, which we're assured to appear at least twice in.

Either way, they can f**k right off. The Lads play in black and white, unless it clashes (like playing Sheff Wed, Notts C...erm, that's it).
