Macca and Nobby Swap??

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Sorry folks that's just me getting my hopes up, but apparently, Steve MacManamanananamanamnamanmanmanamnamanma or however you spell it has been put on the list at Real, and they want Nobby, so kind of makes sense to me.

What're the odds he'll go to Arsenal (if he comes back to England)? Also Nakata's available at Roma and I've have him at Newcastle on the basis that I'd get to see EVERY game played this season.

Nakata? now I like the sound of that...Na-Kaaaaaa-ta. Mmmm not bad ;-)

Seriously watch him a couple of times on Jimmy Richardson's show.

Newton heath were reputedly interested in Nakata last year, can't say I blame them either, decent player who brings a mass of sponsorship with him and TV deals.

Macca recently said he wouldn't come back to England, and I doubt anyone here would be prepared to meet his wage demands.
Of course, some serious interest by say Fenerbahce might just change his mind for him.

Apparently the Smoggies are going to try to tempt him to play for him. They'll have to pay him a lot of Scooby Snacks to get him.

Mind you begrudginly the Smoggies have a few decent players now and if they can hold on to Ziege, which I doubt they will, they could be a top half finisher quite easily.

One interesting train of thought picked up from the Football365 website. Real and Newton Heath have indulged in explicit profiteering by signing Macca and Bosnich respectively.

Did they sign them with the intention of selling them a year later at a profit even after their inflated wages. Real could probably get 8 million for Macca, which even after wages of 80,000 a week would represent a near 4 million profit!

I would guess that both Bossie and Macca are not too happy about Bosman at the minute. That is if they want to play and not just sit there picking up the wages.

That is a very interesting thought DB. It did actually occurr to me when manure signed Bosnich, who I really didn't think would make it with them.
Signing such players on 'frees' and selling them on early in their new contract period can be yet another nice earner for high profile Clubs like Real and NH.
