Are you, LR? Thought it was just the daytrippers who went and waited for the bricks of Elland Road to show they are real fans?

-- Anonymous, August 08, 2000

No Douggie..I ain't going...It's the Bulldog Bash weekend...but plenty of real fans will be there. However..I'll be at OT the following Sunday....U going?

Hiya, LR - I've applied for tickets so it's a case of waiting. Jools offered me a seat in this benefactor of his box and I said "no ta" but may live to regret it as almost everyone I know has applied. Assuming I get a ticket, I'll be there. I've a week off for that game, the resorves game, Derby and Spurs at home as well as a couple of visits to the training ground!

What do U need to go training for...ITK told me U were fit :-)

I understand there are thousands of tickets left for this one, I remember when we went to the Charity Shield, Newcastle sold out, Manure didn't & I had to sit in the Manure section. It goes to show, put two clubs with a big "part-time" following together & you only get half a crowd. I'm not puttin LR in with the part-timers but there are many about in the all new lihtweight "breathable" red umbro Vodaphone shirts. I think I'll change to One to One

Black Market Charity Shield tickets were 3 times that of NH's when we were there and it's their local side.

Lads lads lads.....in the 70's and 80's when United went to Wembley for the odd cup final and CS it was a MASSIVE day out. Think about it....even I used to go then....not now. When ya REGULARLY do Wembley, and Juve and Inter and Barca and Real etc etc...an afternoon out v's The Gimps is just not appealing.

BTW...Part time support?....DON'T make me mention 1991...SHIT..I just have :-)

Glad you mentioned 1991, Hon. Did you know that we had an embargo on home games in 1991 with picketing and all sorts of things? Did you also know that we had the highest away attendances in the league that season? You do now. And I know you have sufficient integrity to spread the word. Then again, wouldn't be a Manc if you didn't prefewr a good story to the facts.

Douggie...lol...I'm sorry but I have to say "tosh"..U want me to believe that story...about picketting AND yer away support?...naaaaaaaa

I know ot hurts you to find that the fabled Toon Army is just that...fabled :-).....where as the Red Army see's its support as a kind of faith..Manchester United..The Religion. We HAVE to go see just have to :-)

It's true. We did have the highest away attendances and we did have the pickets and things. All brought on by a speech my McKeag saying that we were a selling club. It is absolutely true. Will e mail you the documentation. Laugh if you like: you just don't like hearing a fact that gets in the way of your only story. Anyway, were you one of 16,000?

-- Anonymous, August 09, 2000

What 16,000?

Anyway Douggie...me and U have been on this discussion fer ages..how come you've just pulled these "facts" from somewhere now?.:-) :-)

-- Anonymous, August 09, 2000

I have mentioned them on here before along with a discussion of variosu other factors like the share issue that was going on at the same time, the internecine board struggles and the fact that our away tataendances said it all about our regime at the time. To you, I believe. The 16000 in 1989. Jools is the only Manc I've ever met who admits he wasn't there.

Jools would have been about 10 years old at the time and probably NOT a regular match goer anyway. Just WHO the shag were we playing to get 16,000 fans?..I'll be checking this Douggie...!!
