Compact Flash Card Stability

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I am traveling to Germany next month and am concerned about the possibility of losing stored images on my CompactFlash Card when going through airport security (x-ray machines, magnetic detection devices, etc). Will I return with a card full of images or a blank?

I have gone thru a number of African, Asian and European airports (and U.S., of course) with no problem! I'm told the flash cards are NOT magnetic media anyway.

my cards are scanned in airport machines twice each week, and i have never had any problems. however, if you do lose data for some reason, like your computer decides to eat bits for lunch, send email to me. i have written an application to recover lost images from cards. remember, if you want a good recovery rate, then don't write to the card in any way after you have the problem.
