casio qv-3000ex with batteries problem

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

my casio qv 3000ex uses alcaline batteries, i tried to use 4 good NiMH AA batteries, but camera doesn't start. Why? i noticed that alcaline voltage is 1,5V while NiMH is 1,2V, can be a lower potential(Volts)problem? thanks, lorenzo.

The NiMH as they come out of the package are dead (discharged) you must charge them fully before using them. If this doesn't work then it's possible that you have one dead battery in the set. Try charging them in pairs then check voltage with a volt meter. The pair that don't come up to snuff will have the dead one. Everyone uses NiMH in the QV-3000, usually without trouble.
