Fires in Montana and western states

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

I am sure by now you have heard about the fires in Montana and out west. I know the power of prayer and I am asking for prayer for the firefighters in particular and God's help in putting these fires out. Montana right now is the no.1 hot spot and the main priority in terms of putting fires out. We have more forest fires than any other state. Right now the count is 12. President Clinton will be here tomorrow to survey the scene. Firefighter from all over the country are here, including firefighters from Canada, Alaska, and Australia. The National guard are fighting the fires and the marines are being called up. The fires are in the central part of the state, and they have begun to jump highways. Yellowstone National Park had three small fires last week, which were put out. But if the Park catches on fire, it will be horrific. All of the western states that have fires have A.M.E churches. Keep us in prayer, Thanks Rev. Denise Rogers

Father, you are so loving and kind to us who proclaim your name. You have been rgacious to us despite our proclivity for the useless and the childish. With more serious things going on arounds us, we have descended intod disputation, taking our focus off the true battles that you would have us fight. Please forgive us.

We come now joining with Pastor Rogers asking for your Divine Intervention in Montana. May your overriding rule of thelements bear witness to the majesty and glory of your name, and your already proclaimed defeat of the Prince of the Powers of the Air. PLease have mercy on the people of Montana, and spare them from this horror, if it be your will.

We thank you for all that you are, all that you have done, and all that you will be: to Montana, to this nation, to this world, and to us, your children. Thank you, Father.

Jerryl your prayer is so beautiful and filled with the holy spirit!! Thank you for your kindness. As of 7PM we now have 18 fires in Montana 6 more since my initial post. I am on the Red Cross disaster team in my town , so I am sure I will be getting a call this week to help out other Red Cross chapters across the state. Many people have lost their homes and belongings. I am glad that I can serve God in anyway possible to help his children.

Pastor Jerome, thank you for your response. The fires are getting worst, we now have over twenty fires. I am on the Red Cross disaster action team and they are calling to see who is available to go help people who have lost their homes and provide care to those in shelters. So far my town has not had forest fires out of control, but everyone is on alert since my town of Bozeman is completely surrounded by forests. I know all things are in God's hands. And the people of our state our fighters! But do keep us in prayer!!

Father, we praise You for your provision and your boundless love for us all. We thank you that your word says goodness AND mercy will follow us all of our days.  Lord, we pray your peace over Pastor Rogers and her family and over all the people of Montana in Your Name. We know from your word and from our walk with you that your peace literally guards our hearts and minds, especially in the midst of calamity.  Lord, please speak your peace to their hearts and keep them steadfast in you, and empower them through your Spirit to encourage and serve the lost, in Your Name Jesus, amen.

I just want to thank everyone who has written me personally and posted prayers of concern on this Board! It is a tremendous help. Montana is my home, and the people here are my people! I have married them, buried their family members, taught their children. And they have embrace my family with love. There are so few people in our state only 876,000 in the whole state. That when one family grieves we all grieve. There are now fires on the Flathead indian reservation, in the northern part of the state. And small fires are burning in yellowstone national park. Firefighters are exhausted, and we need lots of rain without lightening strikes that set fires. We are in God's hands and I know he will not fail us. Keep Montana and the other western states in prayers. God bless my A.M.E family
