New Bishop in East Texas

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

OK, it has been almost 6 months since we lost our Bishop Carmody to his new assignment in Corpus Christi, TX. We wish him well, but this certainly leaves the few sheep in East Texas with out a leader. The Diocese of Tyler, has a very small Catholic population (2%) and the largest diocese in Texas in geographic size. The visual presence of our leader was a welcome site. Please see what can be done to speed the process of assignment of Bishop Carmody's successor.

Our prayers are for him.

Thanks and regards. R G Drone RGDrone@aol.com

We can do nothing more than you, R.G. -- pray for the Holy Spirit to guide the pope to the right man.
If it is any consolation to you, my diocese was recently without a bishop for more than a year. You can be sure that the pope and his advisors are searching and praying to find a good shepherd for the Tyler flock. Perhaps those priests who were originally recommended as successors to Bp. Carmody turned out not to be orthodox teachers, or perhaps a man that the pope chose declined to accept the episcopacy.
We will join you in prayer.
John
