Performance of Nikkor TC!4C

Has anyone had experience with the (rare) Nikkor TC14C? I read that it is the best converter for the Nikkor 500mm f/4P, but I can't find any source for it, yet.

I believe the TC14C is specifically designed for and sold with the equally rare Nikkor 300 f/2.0 from the mid eighties. This suggests that no more than a couple of hundred were ever made.

Alexander,

I can confirm Chuck's answer... it was the converter that was dedicated to the rare 300mm f2.0 lens that was produced in the 1980's. It has a good reputation soley based on the lens it was used on... producing a 420mm f2.8 lens from the 300.

I doubt that 1. you could readily find one due to the rarity and 2. that it would be that good on the 500mm since it was totally developed for the lens it was dedicated to.
