Water pipe break plagues Encanto area August 4, 2000

A broken water pipe in the southeastern San Diego community of Encanto left hundreds of residents without water yesterday afternoon.

Repair crews said they hoped to have service restored by early today, officials reported.

The pipe broke as crews did other repairs around 65th and Herrick streets, said Tedi Jackson, a Water Department spokeswoman.

Water wagons bearing fresh, potable water were taken to the community yesterday while the normal water service was out, she said.
