Would you give your son or daughter a prized dagger as a gift. I must be missing something because that really wouldn't of been my gift

If you were going to kill yourself wouldn't you of taken a little more gentle way of doing it. Lieutenant Takeyama disemboweled himself with his officer's sword and then his last exertion was to thrust the sword into his throat and with his wife's assistance in loosening the collar he completed his task!!! Couldn't there be some other recourse rather than killing yourself so brutally??? Could someone give me a good answer to this question what a book!!!!!!!!!!!!!
