The one above just displaced the area, the missing cube has made the long side higher. The one below is f*uc*ing my eyes up, where's the acid man?

The gradients are different on the two triangles, the top one is slightly concave.....bloody sneaky!

Tony,

you swine! That first one is annoying the hell out of me cos it seems impossible. Anyone care to explain it?

Phew! Thanks Gav.

What's the point of the second one besides making you feel all woozy? Cool effect, but can't look at it very long %-)

Not sure how to explain the top one. It does all work out to the same dimensions overall, but the hole happens caus the yellow bit is flipped. This is why I never did well in math classes, and struggle among engineers. I've always been better at intuitively understanding things but completely incapable of explaining why or how(artistic mind). It just does! ;-)))

The non-existant black dots disappear if you stare unwaveringly at the central white dot for a while...followed shortly by your sanity.

you weren't supposed to mention the second one. This is the new 2001/2 home strip. Guaranteed to confuse the hell out of the oponents.

Gav
You'll be telling us next you're a MENSA propellor heed. :-))

Or he reads funky.com :o)

oooooohhh...thanks, Windy. Makes sense now. And if you can keep your eyes from wavering off the spot is much easier to stare at. :-)

This really is weird. I have asmall problem (you may already have heard) whereby the red gun on my monitor packs in. Well, looking at the second one when the red gun is off, I was bliddy surprised to see the spots were flashing red! I think I need a drink. Nurse.

Ciara
Re the top one, if you look at it as two separate problems, it isn't so hard to see what's happened.

1) Arrange the orange and light-green shapes in such a way that the length of the light-green and orange combination is the same as the base length of the dark green triangle.

2) Arrange the orange and light green-shapes in such a way that the length of the light-green and orange combination is the same as the base length of the red triangle.

The only way to make that work for the red triangle is to line up the 5 units long side of the orange shape with the 3 units long side of the light-green shape so that the combined length is the 8 units of the red triangle base. This leaves the 1 unit gap.

Phew, now me head hurts :-<<

That's just what I was thinking, Bill! Probably. Take a few virtual pints for the heed. You'll want to be in top form for the 20th! :-)

Ciara
I shall try my best to have enough heed medicine over the next 2 weeks to mask any after effects of all that complicated explaining (well complicated for me).

See you in two weeks, and anybody else on here who actually gives a toss about what I'm up to. Eeeee worra cynic I am.:-(())

Have a good break Bill, don't talk to any mackems, it'll only set you off again ;-)
