Teamsquawk are reporting that Chelsea have collected the insurance money on Casiraghi after medical experts informed them that Casiraghi would never regain full fitness. Chelsea collected 4million in insurance and have terminated Casiraghi's wages.

Poor bugger; having gone through the same injury, I know how much it hurts, but at least it only stopped me working for a few months. The lesson to be learnt girls and boys is 'look after your knees'.

I wonder whether footballers insure themselves as well for loss of earnings due to injury. Casiraghi luckily for him will have at least amassed a small fortune beforehand anyway, but for less high profile cases it's obviously devastating.

bit suprised to learn chewsea have 'terminated his wages. i know ken bates isn't mr generosity but aren't they obliged to pay off his contract first? i know he won't be short of lira but its seems cruel to have to learn your career is definitely over and then the club you almost lost a leg for cancel your wages. sad.
