Mornin` All!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Feeling as though I`m getting a bit out of touch on here - busy, busy, busy for the last few weeks!

Well, only two and a half weeks to go to the big kick-off, and I just can`t wait. I am hoping that the time will pass quite quickly too as I have another busy couple of weeks coming up. Pete and I are off to Brandshatch this weekend for the World Superbikes (pity Foggy won`t be racing), but I shall enjoy the break anyway.

Yelli is off on holiday next week - first time abroad on her own. I`m not worried, no really, I`m not! Just wishing I had never watched programmes like Ibiza Uncovered! Six weeks into her new job, and Yelli is really ready for some R and R. She has been working some very long hours (hence the lack of postings on here), seems to be really enjoying it, and would appear to have thoroughly impressed her new employers.

A friend of mine in the States offered to set up a web site for me, so I have been searching around for web sets that I like, and collecting the information I want on it. In actually fact, I am rather regretting having said yes to her - it really looks as though it could be quite fun to do (though, no doubt, it would take me a while to work it all out).

I`ve had a couple of successful outings with Mrs. Miggins, and the weekend after next is Bournemouth Ch. Show. Bliss! A Ch. Show which is only a five minute drive from home.

Ever so slightly disheartened with my garden. Hot weather and strong winds, followed by torrential (monsoon) rain, has left it looking rather battered. Strange goings on too in the insect world - this year, so far, I have only seen maybe half a dozen bees, and only one wasp, and one butterfly! I wish I could say the same about slugs and snails.

I am typing this with the assistance (?) of our new Bengal kitten. Now four and a half months old, he weighs in at eight pounds! He`s going to be a bit of a chunker! Alarmingly intelligent and frighteningly inquisitive - he is certainly keeping me on my toes! Yesterday he joined me in the bath - a surprise visit I might add, not a planned one! He was totally blaze about it. In fact, we have already found out that one of his favourite games is jumping in and out of a sink full of water. I, on the other hand, have made a mental note to keep the bathroom door firmly shut in future!

Sorry about the `dear diary` type posting - just getting you up to date, and I didn`t want anyone to think I`d lost interest in our wonderful BBS. I have been trying to read everything! (:o)

Wheres Yelli going ?

-- Anonymous, August 03, 2000

Gav - you name it - I can probably find it in the `frozen` section at Sainsburys! (:o)

Sting - tell me you are working next week, and I`ll tell you where Yelli is going!(;o)

Galaxy
If you don't have a pond in the garden, put one in. It'll attract frogs and stuff (eventually), and you'll hardly see a slug.

Breeding hedgehogs helps as well, so I've been told :-)

Thanks for the suggestion Pit Bill - it will probably keep the kitten amused too! (:o)

Are these Bengals expensive to buy, and from where ?

-- Anonymous, August 03, 2000

Pit Bill - yes they are expensive, even by pedigree cat standards, if you go to a reputable breeder (and I would advise you to do so if you are interested in one). Ours came from a lady in Cadnam, who I already knew, and has been breeding cats for years.

Have a look at her website. The picture of the cat which you have to click on to get to the Bengal section is the father of our kitten. There a picture of the actual kitten in that section - he is the one on the left hand side of the picture.

Unfortunately, as with all new breeds, a lot of people have jumped on the bandwagon, and there are some pretty unscrupulous `breeders` around. The breed was actually developed by crossing Burmese with the wild Asian Leopard Cat. It is important that kittens sold as pets are at least four generations removed from that initial cross.

The web site is: http://www.yingmocats.co.uk/ sorry, I can`t do links.(:o)

Sting,

I am off to Tenerife (appartments in Playa de las Americas) - next Tuesday and I can hardly wait!!!

If anyone has been there, suggestions on what to do and where to go would be eagerly welcomed!!!

I've been there...couple of years ago.....just about everyone heads down to strip on a night....Bobby's, Linekers et al....

You'll soon get sick of getting hounded on the street by stupid tossers trying to get you into their bars....try and get as much out of them as possible......you should at LEAST get two drinks out of each one! always ask for free drinks before you go in....even if you were going in anyway.....it's the principle ;)

And....how come you aren't at work? and you'd better not be flirting with Sting ;)))))

No glamourous holidays for me this year. Just a week at the beginning of September up in Longhorsley showing the kids the beautiful Northumbrian countryside and coastline (and the new St James' of course).

Yelli - you little devil! While the cat`s away eh?

BTW I`m off into Bournmouth - so I won`t be at home at lunchtime.

BTW(2) Bentley has just eaten the rather spiteful catus in the conservatory! He`s beginning to make me nervous! (;o)
