I am looking for a 2 Megapixal camera with 3X zoom in the mid-price range. The Olympus 460 if it were 2MegaPixel and the Canon S10 would be perfect if it had 3x zoom. Does anyone have any word on when (or if) Olympus is planning an upgrade to the 4xx line?

Check out www.olympus.com. They just announced a olympus490z due out August 15, 2000 It has 2.11 megapixels and zoom for list of $499.00. See also Steves-digicams.com for recent news.

Call around the Camera shops in your town. I got a new C-2000z Olympus for $400. It was the last one they had. Hard to move now that the C-2020 and C-3030 is out. But a great camera none the less. 3X optical zoom plus the usual additional digital zoom up to 7X. Read the review section for more details.

Camera shops have great deals on obsolete (ha..that means six months old)cameras if you only ask. In my case, the box had $799 on it and the clerk asked me how much I would pay. I responded with $400 and the speed at which he accepted probably meant I could have gone lower. But what the heck, it's a great camera at a very reasonable price.
