What Kind of Photo Paper for Digital Imaging

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Who makes the best photo paper (glossy finish)for printing digital imaging? What weight paper should I look for and where should I look online for the best prices?

Thanks

what brand of printer you got, Use their special photo paper, and differet photo papers. I used Agfa photoper on my HP, gives excellent result.

Richard--ibrahim is at least pertially correct: start with the printer manufacturer's paper(s). That would give you a standard from which you can judge other paper. I have found that Epson paper does not work well with HP ink, and HP paper does not work well with Epson ink. Both the glossy Epson papers (Epson Photo Paper and Epson Premium Glossy) work well in my 1270, but I and my wife have just fallen in love with Konica QP, their premium-quality, superglossy, thick paper. I get QP at www.costco.com. I tested all the RedRiver glossies they include in their sample packs; none did as well (IN MY 1270)as any of the 3 I've mentioned above.

I trust someone gave you a few sheets of QP to try before you bought it. Paying $78 for QP paper at Cosco (300 sheets) sounds like one heck of a crap shoot should you not like how it turns out.
