The Day of the Makems - part 2.

I had a meeting with a new colleague this morning, still trembling from the horrors at Tottenham Court Road. He has just sent me an e mail with the little parting shot "I should warn you - I'm a Sunderland fan". Will this Makemness never end?

Dougal, you're doomed. Get thee to Toon now! Before it's too late!

Or you can sit back and smile in smug satisfaction after we beat them home and away this season. Mebbes invite him round for a pint (or banana shake, as appropriate) to celebrate commiserate on their relegation. ;-)

Oh Lordy - one of the compensations of living in London was its distance from the Makems and you never saw them wandering around in their shirts when they were crap. The reversal in fortune means that even London isn't safe.

I second that, while running around Green Park at lunchtime one of the red and white brigade walked out in front of me. Made me feel even more ill than ususal during my little jog.

Believe it or not, the ugly rags even made appearances in DC and Columbus(of all places!). One sensible Mackem, while admitting to his affliction, wisely decided not to wear his shirt. The less sensible one collected a bit of abuse from the Wreck room lads during the game. Of course, he made sure to keep himself on the other side of the fence from the terrace... ;-)

It's quite obviously the day for Makem spotting.......I was in our local town with my two daughters this afternoon and saw one of the great unwashed coming out of Burger King (I'll never go in there again) and this 'individual' resplendent in his red and white Reg Vardy rag took one look at me.....growled and stormed off.

I had my GROW YOUR OWN DOPE.....PLANT A MAKEM T Shirt on......even the girls laughed!
