Auto and Manual focus

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

In the description of the Kodak 290, the focus says that it is auto focus with manual override. How does this differ from manual focus? Thank you.

It means that if you use auto the camera will focus for you but it may not do it properly under some crcumstances. For example if your subject is off center the camera may focus on what is in the center which could be farther back (or in front) of your subject. If you select manual focus you do the focusing and have no one to blame but the yourself.
