As with the ROUTE 66 Competition, I am launching the DAILY TOOON WEEKLY MATCH PREDICTIONS competition today as I am on holiday until the 17th. I Will place an open posting for the predictions as soon as I can when I get back, but in the mean time, there has been a slight tweeking of the rules and points allocation since the Euro 2000 competition. I hope as many people as possible take part in the competition.

THE DAILY TOON  PREDICTIONS COMPETITION

Just how good are you at predicting the outcome of Toon matches? - Well this is your chance to prove it as we launch a new Daily Toon competition.

The idea of the competition is to predict win, lose or draw, the exact scoreline and who the first goal-scorer will be in each of this seasons Toon matches.

The competition will be run in the same way as the one during Euro 2000 with one small tweek to the rules.

As we did during Euro 2000, the points will be awarded for each of the three main elements, and bonus points will be awarded to anyone who gets all three correct. The small change to this would be if you nominate a first scorer and get it right, you get 6 point, however, if that player does not score the first goal, but then scores a subsequent goal, 2 points will be awarded.

Therefore, if you have predicted Alan Shearer as first scorer and Barton gets a lucky rebound off his backside, your interest in the outcome does not end there. You could still earn 2 points.

As a result, you will get EITHER - 6 points for first scorer - OR - 2 points for a subsequent scorer. You will NOT get cumulative points if they score two or more goals in a match.

The scoring will be as follows:

2 points awarded for predicting a win, lose or draw.

4 pointsawarded for predicting the exact scoreline

6pointsawarded for predicting the scorer of the first goal

2 points awarded if your nominated scorer scores anything but the first goal.

3points bonus points will be awarded for getting all three correct.

Predictions can be logged through the BBS when I start each thread as they were during E2K, or they can be mailed directly to predictoons@hotmail.com

The cut off point for each game will be 30 minutes before the kick off. Timings will be taken as per the time stamp shown on the hotmail account.

If the first goal is an own goal, it will be deemed that there was NO first goalscorer.

The top five placings will be posted on a regular basis on the BBS, but the full list of league positions will be shown on the Daily Toon website at http://www.dailytoon.co.uk

To smooth the way for this game, as the thread for each game is posted, I will post the results of each of the meetings between the Toon and the relevant opponents at either SJP or at their ground, whichever is the case since we re-entered the Premier League.
