Digital Wallet

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Have worked with MindWorks tech for several days- Wallet won't format on my Powerbook 2000. I received one of the first wallets and it seem I am a beta tester that has paid full price for a product that doesn't work. I have made three requests for an RMA with no success! Tech "Bill" said he had filled out the paper work several days ago. The Tech department was good but they admitted they were a PC house with little experience with Mac's.

How long should a person wait? RobGalbraith.com has my review posted. I did my best to get the product to work. You would think MindsWork would have issued the RMA so posts on the web wouldn't hinder sales for a new product.

I could not find your comments on RobGalbraith.com so I am sort of flying blind here. I also have recieved a Digital Wallet and had no particular problem getting it to work with my Mac G4/500. Indeed it was a very simple plug and play operation. I was even able to format the drive (I do not reccomend this except as a last resort in the event you truly corrupt the drive - my excuse is that I am an industrial tester). If you would share with me the problems you are having, the OS you are using, etc I may be able to help out.

I suspect that their tech support is swamped with issues as installing the GW on a PC is not a trivial task particularly if you goof during the install. There is no really good way to go back and start over due to an oddity in Windows.

The word from another forum is that Minds@Work DOESN'T ISSUE RMA's - they only stall. Apparently, as of yesterday they hadn't figured out how to handle service, so they just promise to get back to you, and then don't.

In a similar circumstance with a different firm, I simply called and said I was issuing my own RMA - "number 5A21" and that they should write it down. Then I hung up and sent the box with the number written on it. It worked in that case, but it seems like a bit of a desperate step. You might want to give them one more week before trying it.

All in all, it certainly doesn't speak well of the professionalism of Minds@Work.
