So many printers, so little time...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

First off. Your website is by far the very best in it's class. Due to the information I gathered over a couple of weeks researching my digital camera on your website, I knew signifancantly more than the sales person did about my camera when I purchased it. I had several questions that he had to go ask his manager about. Later I checked your website for the answers and almost all of the info he had given me was incorrect. Thank you for your dedication to such an excellent website.

Now for my question. I recently purchased a Sony DCS-70 (which thanks to your website is a perfect fit for my needs) and I am looking now for an equally high end printer. However, I am having a ton of trouble finding any info on the differnt options I have in this market. Perhaps you could recomend a direction.

Thanks Chad Moldon

Well, I don't have anything to do with running this wonderful site, but I think Dave, et al, will pardon my impertinence. :-)

Depending on your pocket book and personal preference you'll probably look at ink jets and dye sublimation printers. Why not have a look at www.steves-digicam.com and check out his printers section. He lists just about every model made... Or do a web search for "photo printer" or "home office photo printer". For an off the cuff recommendation, the Epson line is very good and the 870 & 1270 are the two current photo models that seem most popular. The 875 is an 870 with media reader built-in.

Even their 4 color models produce quite nice photos. I get by nicely with an Epson 760 which cost about $130.

Have fun!

If you buy the Epson I recommend you buy your paper and cartridges direct from Epson. I haven't seen anyone selling them cheaper (the cartridges for sure) and they don't charge for shipping.
