I have a Nikon 800 with a 32mg compact card. It takes almost an hour to download from the camera to my Mac. I am new to the digital world so please excuse my lack of knowledge. I would like to know if I can speed up the process. I read somewhere that the card can be removed from the camera for use with a PCMCIA Card Slot. How does this work and does anyone have any experience with this? Or any other recommendations?

There are PCMCIA adapters and USB adapters that will take a compact card and that connect to the computer. Either one will greatly speed up the download.

Or you can just start the computer downloading images right before dinner, and have the job done when you're finished eating.
