Kodak DC290 vs Sony Cybershot DSC-S70

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I have been thinking about purchasing either the Kodak DC290 or the Sony Cybershot DSC-S70. After doing photo comparisons it looks like the Kodak has a little better picture quality in my opinion. The movie feature of the Sony has caught my eye though. I am not a professional photographer - more of a hobbyist.

Which would be the better camera to invest in for the long run? Would there be problems with Sony's memory stick being propietary in terms of looking in the future? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

In that price range i recommend the Olympus C-3000. Much faster than the Sony dsc70 and better quality than the kodak dc290. Also can record movie (QuickTime format) and sound. All can be purchased under $800 anywhere you look. IM
