Two clubs voted for us as their noisiest away fans

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

this season. Those of you who went to ways, what do you reckon were our noisiest performances. I was quite surprised as the one where I thought we outdid ourselves, their fans don't give us a mention.

I thought the Spurs game was the noisiest I went to (compared to Wimbledon, Saints, Chelsea, Coventry, Villa, Arsenal, West Ham). Mind you, may have something to dowith their fans being so bizarrely quiet.

Dougal

WHich are the two clubs by the way?

My two noisiest were probably Spurs (Cup) and Southampton....

I was at the Sheff Wed game ..now that was loud.

I thought we had to get the Wednesday vote but they went for Oldham or someone in the Cup. No, it was Liverpool ("The Geordies were deafening - imagine what they'd be like if they won anything" and West Ham who commented on our numbers and the noise we made and that we were unlucky to lose. We apparently went for the sympathy vote and chose Wednesday.. I'd have gone for Sheffield United meself.

I sat in the Spurs end for the Cup game it was like the grave round me.

Jay, Doesn't suprise me ;)) sorry but it was waiting to be said!!

Actually I was pissed at the Spurs game (when am I not I hear you all shout!) so I could've been mistaking by the noise level :)

I sat behind Dancing Dave in the Centenary Stand at Anfield during the Liverpool game (about 10 yards from the famous Kop) and could only hear Screach, Dougal, Min and the rest of the Geordies in the far corner...the Kop could only muster something of any noise after Redknapp popped up for the damn winner.

A scouse mate of mine actually complained to me that our boys were offensively loud at the Liverpool game. Poor lamb said he couldn't concentrate on the football.....

I didn't get to as many games as I wanted, but Sheffield Wednesday was the noisiest as far as I was concerned.

The sound of Tell Me Ma Me Ma was still echoing round the Hillsborough stadium when they kicked off the for the NEXT game.

Worst was Watford.....for whatever reason we seemed to be really p*ss poor that day......it was noisier in the pub before hand.

Blackburn in the cup was definitely the loudest away performance , Tranmere came pretty close ... in the league id go for Southampton as the most compacted noise .... Wimbledon and Watford were particularly crap IMO .

-- Anonymous, July 31, 2000

Only got to a few aways, but West Ham was probably the loudest and most continuous for me. Leicester was close, but far higher on the humour scale. :-)

-- Anonymous, July 31, 2000

Gotta agree with the comments about Watford and Wimbledon games being particularly crap for noise.....Mind you we did spend more than half the Wimbledon game trying to catch Sting's parents attention ;))

-- Anonymous, July 31, 2000

reckon the most sustained has been wimbledon, nearly an entire half of BR's B&W army, they scored after the break and it took ages to get going again. WHAM was pretty good, as has been Arsenal for the previous three seasons. Apart from last year, (when I couldn't get) the previous two I just got pissed and angry.....what and odd fellow..;-)

-- Anonymous, July 31, 2000

I didn't reckon Wimbledon was that loud, nor Spurs (too many empty seats). West Ham was the loudest and most continuous noise I've heard in a long time from an away crowd.

I THINK THIS JUST GOES TO SHOW .. a ) where you were sat , and b ) how many beverages one had consumed : - ))

-- Anonymous, July 31, 2000

never drink tea before a game sting, and you can't call what I drink merely a beverage, but I agree with the sentiment. 'cos I don't have a season ticket the two games I got to at the end of last season at home I thought were pretty quiet. Only get the mental one's at way games eh?

-- Anonymous, July 31, 2000

TM I resent that remark.....I get to some of the home games as well!! ;)

-- Anonymous, July 31, 2000

You're just wrong in the head man Gav : - )

-- Anonymous, July 31, 2000

Oh is that what it is :))

Incidentally, a survey of all PL clubs said that the Stadium of Other People's Names was the most glorious place to watch your fotbbal anywhere (mind you, onlt the Toon and Man United were in the top twenty of grounds other than the Makems). It also said that the Wearside Roar was the best fanzine ever anywhere in the whole world.

TM, I'm afraid I can't agree with your statement; "WHAM was pretty good", I thought Andrew Ridgeley was a talentless tw@t and, although the Greek boy may well be a gifted songwriter he's a (part- time?) 'wooly wufta', nevertheless!!!

:7)

Southampton eh? Well Yelli and I were hoarse for days afterwards!(:o)

-- Anonymous, August 01, 2000

You were what for days afterwards Galaxy? ;)

I'm not certain that open talk of prostitution should be allowed on this here family BBS....

-- Anonymous, August 01, 2000
