Newcastle - good and bad

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I was almost sick with excitement when I eventually arrived in Newcastle - the ground looks fantastic. Hvae to say, the shrouding on the Tyne Bridge disoriented me a bit but the site of the Laezes in all its glory almost made me cry: sat there on top of the hill like a huge fortress or a Norman Cathedral, it's an awesome sight. Had some beer and a chat with Steph, Softie, Nic, Screach amd Screach's son. Went along the Quayside on Sunday morning: whar a sight! Just beautiful. Bought an away shirt. Had a look round Heaton. Was overcome with happiness to be at home when I heard a crowd of lads shouting. One of them was staggering up to a black man saying "Hey, Mister Nigger, d'yer wannit?". Sombreness descended. Every Eden has its maggots.

So what was the opinion on Heaton then Dougs , did you see that outburst round there ?

Sting, I thought Heaton was ace. Some nice roads, nice pubs and things, not too far out. Not great transport links but it's close enough to get cabs and things. No, the outburst was on Neville Street. The lads in question were absolutely bladdered but the bloke they were insulting looked quite frightened and was very clearly offended.

Heaton's full of bliddy students (and yuppies if you get a place there Doug!). And it's only a couple of minutes walk from Byker which has excellent transport facilities, if the number of police vans "helping folks out" is anything to go by. ;-)

Nice to see you again (he lied) on Saturday, even if the Screachmobile wasn't good enough for you to ride home in. I presume you made it back safely without being accosted? We all knew that's what you were after when you refused the lift. ;-))

Heaton is not full of students, on yer bike you. Nice workin' class people. Now Byker, that's a place not to go to after dark, considering it is always dark in Byker anyway.

Sting - to be honest, I was bladdered (Dougal tried to get me p*ss*d). Fortunately, I'd taken precautions and brought along #2 son who drove us back, leaving Dougal to r=try to rob the cashpoint at SJP. Bless her, she said she likes to see St James Park on her bank statement. I bet NUFC.COM will try to scan a copy of it and post it on their site. Tino - RIP.
