i'll be attending Sparta Rotterdam's open day before heading over to De Kuip. could arrange a meet up. be careful though as Feyenoord have a number of psychopaths amongst their followers for whom 'friendly' or even 'colours' mean sod all. a certain measure of caution is recommended.

We're going via Amsterdam so we can do a night out there on the way back. The few hours in Rotterdam are just an inconvenience, couple of pints before the match then back on the train to Amdam. So it's hide your toon tops lads, and no friendly banter with the locals then. Can you recommend a bar? How long does the train take?

Cheers

trains between Amsterdam and Rotterdam leave every 15 minutes or so and take just about an hour departing from platforms 13/14 or platform one (used to take it to work). Tell me what time you want to arrive and i'll post the time of the trains.

you can catch a train from Rotterdam Central itself directly to the station.

i live in Leiden, not Rotterdam, + don't go out there much so i can't recommend a bar. There's plenty to choose from though only the Irish ones will be serving pints.

We'll be coming up from Brussels for the match, and also for the Ajax centenary tournament with Barcelona, Lazio and Arsenal which starts on Thursday.
Do you have any idea where Newcastle will be staying as I wouldn't mind trying to stay in the same hotel as long as it's not ridiculously priced.
Also can we just turn up on the day and get tickets. I rang Feyenoord and got the impression that it may not be too easy to get in. You don't need a Feyenoord supporter's card, do you? Will they let us in the away end? I read on the NUFC site that there may only be 1000 tickets available, which doesn't make sense in a ground which holds 50000 (nearly as big as ours!)

I've just phoned Feyenoord which involved a 15 minutes wait listening to a comical cabaret version of the club-song, bit like having Max Bygraves singing Blaydon Races.

The bad news is only away supporters carring tickets issued from NUFC are allowed in. Tickets sold at the ground itself are only for carriers of a clubcard. As it happens I have one for another Dutch club which allows me into one area of the ground but I can't bring anyone in with me. Feyenoord's supporters have an atrocious reputation for mindless violence and thus ticket distribution is very carefully controlled. Given you're coming up from Brussels I'm not sure how, or if, you get around this. I'm afraid I'm equally in the dark when it comes to the lads hotel or training arangements whilst they're over here.

Thanks for all your info, Stevo. Re: Tickets. Our box office claim that 1000 will be on sale at Feyenoord, for NUFC (what segregation?) Box office are also expecting to receive a seperate allocation to be dished out in the usual way, but don't as yet know how many. All looks a bit messy to me.
