is my scruffbag a maine coon?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Maine Coon Cats : One Thread

My cat found me about 2 years ago, the vet put him at about 10 months old, after worming and decent food two years down the line he looks very different. He is 12pounds in weight with a full lions ruff a very fluffy underbelly (light brown) black paws with fluffy pads(big feet) and a tail that looks like it is on the wrong cat it is very longhaired and very long! his eyes are a clear green and spaced well and his ears are tipped with black and on the inside white hair grows out around the ear. Mel is a stocky cat with solid front legs and is a dark brown/black tabby. I never thought he was anything special (breed wise) until I heard him speak he does not sound like a normal cat he kind of "Chirrups" he is not very vocal anyway with a much quieter voice than the tomcat he argues with frequently next door. He is very laid back not bothered much by anything (hence the name Mel - Mellow) but he is very affectionate following me from room to room. Also which I found odd is he never lies by the fire or radiator even in winter when every other cat I know sleeps pratically up the chimney! so is my scruffbag whom I love dearly a Maine Coon or just a common long haired tabby afterall????? P.S. He is an excellent hunter with a fun streak who often ambushes me throughout the day!!! I would appreciate any information.
