P67 Longevity

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Pentax 67 SLR : One Thread

A post on another forum suggested that the P67 just doesn't last. He wears them out and gets tired of replacing them. He switched to another brand. Mine has traveled quite a bit over many years but I have not yet worn mine out. I estimate that I have shot 6850 frames through mine. The TTL is not as accurate as it once was and I've had minor problems with the meter activating pin on the lens mount face, but I would not consider the camera worn out. I'm expecting it to go 25,000 frames. SR

But by researching a professional photographer to cover a few weddings for my family, I have visited quite a few before choosing one. When I was doing this, I asked each photographer to show me their work. All of them did. Some of them tried to impress me by saying "my equipment is worth more than $40K...." but their work was so banal. Only the one I chose impressed me with his work. On the first wedding day, I was a bit afraid when he showed up with 2 P67. His cameras were so used that the black paint was almost all gone. I was wondering if he would be able to get something out of these two dinosaurs. However, I was more than pleased when I saw the result of his work.

Curious about this, I ask him about it. And he told me that he started his business with 3 P67 twenty five years ago, they are all still his workhorses.
