For whom are you voting? Not-American peeps, for whom would you vote if you were American?

Boy, Gwen, that is a hard one. They are both so unappealing. I don't think I'll make a decision until the first week in November. I'm really hoping that a third party candidate will make headlines.

-- Anonymous, July 28, 2000

I'm not even going to vote.

-- Anonymous, July 28, 2000

I have no idea.

You know, this is really sad, but I've been voting in Presidential elections since 1980 (yeah, I'm old, shut up), and I've never voted *for* anyone, only *against* someone else. No change this year, either.

I'll do what I do every four years - go into the booth, hold my nose, and hit the button for the person who sickens me the least. Hell of a way to choose a President.

I probably will not vote, either. I basically just don't believe in the whole electoral system, or politics in general. I know. I'm bad. I was WAY into Poli Sci in college (maybe because the professor was a fox!) but I just don't care anymore. Maybe it's a phase.

Anyway, for those of you who WILL be voting, my mom sent me this email the other day. I have no idea of how valid these statements are, but it sure is food for thought. Maybe I'll research to see if this stuff is true...nah, probably not.

"Not that you would, but DON'T VOTE FOR GEORGE BUSH!!! His running mate for vice president (Dick Cheney) is anti-abortion, anti-ERA and pro-NRA!!! EEEEEK!!!! I just heard it on the news. Compassionate conservatism?? Not for women!! "

Laura, doesn't that kind of describe what a Republican is? At least a Republican that wants to run the U.S. Government.

I wish all the politicians could be like Virgil Goode. He is a rep. in Virginia, and he recently changed from Democrat to Independent. He votes how he feels, not what a certain Party is supposed to vote for. I would vote for Virgil Goode for president.

I decided a long time ago that abortion rights was an acid test for my vote. If a politician doesn't think I have enough intelligence to decide what happens in my own body, I don't want to know what else he thinks I'm too stupid to decide. So, it'll have to be Gore, though he's only marginally better than Bush. I may vote for Ficus if he'll run for President .

i'm voting for Mr. Ralph Nader. Why?

A) Cause he lives on $25,000 a year and gives the rest to charity. B) Cause he believes in public transportation. C) During the speech he gave at my school, he called SUVs "psycho sexual junkboxes".

rock on, ralph!

Ralph Nader also blew the whistle on Ford Pintos, calling to national attention their unfortunate propensity to burst into flames if tapped from the rear. See _Unsafe at any Speed_. This was not the only example of his consumer advocacy. Needless to say, this has made him persona non grata with various big companies.

I'm voting for Gore, because he has a chance of winning and because the next president will probably get to place several supreme court justices. At this point, my vote is not really about who gets to be president for a couple of years, but more like who will make major decisions for the next couple of decades.

-- Anonymous, July 28, 2000

Gore, although not with great enthusiastium.

I would vote for Nadar but I think it's going to be too close of a race to throw away my vote on a protest vote.

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2000

I will vote for Gore because he is not Bush and he actually has a shot. Still I don't know how much good it will do, since I am here in Texas. Last presidential election I was in Kansas so my vote didn't exactly count then , either. (Remember Bob Dole? shudder)

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2000

Jill: you, me and everybody at UT... that'll at least be enough to make George itch for a line to snort, maybe.

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2000

laugh

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2000

I'm Canadian, so I can't vote but if I could, I'd likely vote Democratic. Ralph Nader sounds like a good choice, but I'd be afraid of splitting the vote, so I'd go with Gore.

Saw a bumpersticker this AM:

VOTE for George Dubya Bush: He ain't a crackhead no more! Praise!

I thought that was funny. :)

-- Anonymous, July 31, 2000

Hey Milla, I need one of those bumperstickers here in Florida! On second thought, I need 2 so I can send Jeb one....hehe

-- Anonymous, July 31, 2000

Dubya! I'm howling! I gotta get me one uh them!

-- Anonymous, August 01, 2000

Gals, I have only seen it plastered happily on the back bumper of a moving vehicle, but if I see one in the store, I know what to do. :)

-- Anonymous, August 01, 2000

Maybe I could write it in shoe polish on my window....that would give the message an extra "seedy" quality.

-- Anonymous, August 01, 2000

Lisa -- I dare you.

-- Anonymous, August 01, 2000

oooh, Gwen, you are so bad! daring me.....hmmm I'll try and make the letters neat.

-- Anonymous, August 02, 2000

Take a picture to show the class!

-- Anonymous, August 02, 2000

Gwen You are one of those "you wouldn't jump of the bridge just cause Gwen told you so, would you?" people Mom warned me about. Aren't you?

Damn, I have got to get one of those digital cameras!

-- Anonymous, August 02, 2000

Try to capture a passerby's reaction.

Dude, your mom told me to tell you to do it. Really, she did!

-- Anonymous, August 02, 2000

OK Gwen. I'll also see if someone can get the photo of me being lynched, so it can go on the web site! woohoo!

-- Anonymous, August 03, 2000

ooh, did that sound too sarcastic? I hope so........hehe

-- Anonymous, August 03, 2000

Geez, do I have to tell you people everything? You don't do it *your* window, you do it on someone else's. Then you get a reaction shot of the owner's face.

-- Anonymous, August 03, 2000

I just want to say I'm voting for Bush. My one lone voice in the crowd here, but oh well...

-- Anonymous, August 04, 2000

That's okay, Keri. Tell us why, though. Feel free. We're all nice, non-mouth-foaming adults here.

-- Anonymous, August 04, 2000

Yeah, why, Keri?

Speak for yourself, Gwen, after having to hear about the Republican convention alllllllll week I'm feelin a litle foamy around the edges....

Really, though, Keri, tell me about why he appeals to you. I shan't flame you, but I might sit here and gnash my teeth or something. I'm beyond harmless.

-- Anonymous, August 04, 2000

Well, call me evil, but I'm a republican. :) I'm always hearing about how scum-sucking-evil republicans are.

I don't want a national health care program, I don't want guns banned (gasp!), I wouldn't mind being able to invest part of my social security money, tax cuts ... I just agree with a lot of the platform. I want to get the democrats out of office.

-- Anonymous, August 06, 2000

Keri, I'm with you. I'm a Repulican, also. But I wasn't gonna be the first one to admit it around here, considering all ... ah .... "foam". :-)

-- Anonymous, August 06, 2000

im gonna vote for the donkey peopel. its so cute!
