MCL tear in my elbow

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Fitness, Exercise, Sports Injury Recovery : One Thread

Last night, I fell and landed with my weight on my left elbow. When I caught myself, my elbow hyperextended and popped. The sports med. doctor told me it was a MCL tear. I was wondering if you could explain this to me better, and maybe tell what treatment you would suggest? Thank you.

Hello! My name is Amber and I was searching the internet beause I have a Torn MCL also. I was snowboarding and I landed a jump wrong and hyperextended my elbow also. I work for a hand surgeon and he is going to perform surgery on it as soon as I get some guts. It was interesting to me to see that someone other then a pitcher tore an MCL. Let me know what kind of treatment you're getting. I am interested to know.

I tore my MCL playing in a basketball tournament over 2 months ago. The first doc I saw said it was nothing, but a month later it wasn't any better. I have another 6 weeks to heal, otherwise I'll be needing some surgery. I can still play basketball and hockey, but can't throw at all. Amber, let me know if you had surgery and what they did/how it went.
