Stacking filters on 55mm Apo-Gradagon???

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Large format photography : One Thread

I am considering purchasing a Rodenstock 55mm f/4.5 Apo-Gradagon lens, to use with the 6x7 and 6x9 film format. I shoot mostly black and white film, so here's my question. Will I be able to use 2 stacked filters i.e. a center filter combined and a contrast inhancing filter along with camera movements, without causing lens vingeting'spelling' ??? Thanks.

I should think it will depend on the size of the filters. If you use a 100mm system like the Lee or Hitech, I doubt it. But have you proved to yourself that you really need a center filter with this lens for those formats?

Robert I have used two stacked filters on my 55 without vignetting but they have to be the slimline version, the type made by Heliopan (67mm thread). The centre filter by Rodenstock has a filter thread of 67/86(exposure factor 4x) very large, very expensive. Good luck,

Trevor, my original equipment center filter for the Apo-Grandagon 4,5/55 says "ND 0.45" which equals 1.5 f-stops or an exposure factor of 2.8x
