NESC's Demise

greenspun.com : LUSENET : New England Motocross Racing : One Thread

How fondly I remember our first race at Middleboro. It was back in 1993, Greg was 11 then and couldn't wait to race. As his parents and "pocketbook", we stood behind our son and invested our time and money into a sport that we believe (and still do) gives kids and parents time to spend together, builds character and creates lasting friendships. For the better part of 7 years, we never missed a race. While his friends were out getting into trouble, Greg was home working on his bike or practicing for Sunday racing. Greg won the Iron Man Award two years in a row and the Youth Championship (unforturnately that was also the time he was winning the 125 Amateur class and was promoted during the season taking away his chances for that accomplishment). To my surprise, as I was sitting in the back of the awards banquet hall shooting spitballs with the boys, I was awarded the "Woman of the Year" plaque. (At first I thought I was getting in trouble for the spitballs LOL). I enjoyed seeing everyone each weekend and looked forward to the long weekend races in Maine. Now as I read the NESC message board, my heart is heavy to learn that such a promising organization has been so badly mismanaged and how our riders have been sorely mistreated. Any organization whose members have so many issues should stand back and take a long hard look at itself. If so many people are unhappy, then something IS WRONG and something should be done about it. I would hate to think that other racing organizations are reading our message board walking away shaking their heads. I suggest an independant third party be brought in to negotiate the changes that need to be made in a FAIR and LEGAL manner before NESC no longer exists. Everyone's intentions are GREAT and I applaude each and every person who has the guts to stand up and be counted. Only you can make it happen. Don't let our team fall apart. I have HIGH hopes. Keep riding !!!! Sandy Webster

Good job Sandy! It is nice to hear from a parents perspective. I couldn't agree more with what you are saying. I remember going trough the same things as a kid, while my friends were parting ,I was working on my bike or practicing. I have made so many lasting friendships in this sport over the 25 years that I have been racing. But getting the NESC to have a third party handle this will never happen as long as the current people are running it. Trust me on this one.

i just wish that everything would go back to normal.. and everyone would get along.. enough of this suspending and throwing out stuff.. if people are trying to make the tracks safer and more fun.. then let them.i dont call it fun when i go to a race and find out that the just kicked out a bunch of people for life just because they wanted more fun on a safer track. i dont call that fun at all..pretty soon at this rate there will be no-one left in the n.e.s.c.

^ What are you talking about? Your one of the ones going along with all this N.E.R.C. stuff or I should say "Posing" to go along with this N.E.R.C. Stuff. Sandy Webster obviously knows what she is talking about. Your just copying whatever the experts do.

This dude.. obviously... is too much of a wuss to admit his real identity. So before you speak... why don't you actually tell everyone WHO you are. JENN OBVIOUSLY CAN STATE HER POINT ALONG WITH LEAVING HER NAME, AND NOT UNDER SOME FAKE B/S! Do you actually know what NERC is for? And how is "posing" for NERC not caring for what sandy said, and why she wants everything back to how it was before? So what are you talking about? Jenn is doing the most she can do, because her age limits her to certain choices! So buddy, WHY DON'T YOU BACK OFF!
