Boro's Mystery transfer target

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Bryan Robson is hoping to sign Steve McManaman from Real. After the arrival of Figo, it has been suggested that Macca would no longer fit in a team with Figo.

The Smoggies certainly try hard don't they, Boksic is another target apparently with Dani from Barcelona. I think P''shead plays too much Championship Manager.

I laughed the other day when Bryan Robson only found out about Ziege's get out clause in his contract. :0)

I actually feel a little sorry for them about the Ziege saga....

Someone has deliberately leaked to Liverpool about that clause and it's now pretty much a forgone conclusion that he'll go....I hope he doesn't as I'll respect him more for it....

Liverpool are going down in my estimation.....it's all so terribly underhand....

I think they will have used Hamman and Babbel to talk to Ziege. Boro shot themselves in the foot for allowing a clause in the contract which said he could go for a ridiculous fee of 5 million.

What kind of manager lets that happen? That sort of clause goes for kids who have potential and are joining a 1st Div club not an Internationally recognised player who signs for a Premiership club who hope to qualify for Europe.

Liverpool have defintely exploited the circumstances though.

Suppose there's no other way Ziege would have signed for the 'Boro than with a release clause. i can only assume 'Boro's been good for his self confidence, being surrounded by supporters with even worse skin conditions. Robson's frequently hysterical transfer targets crack me up. First Fowler (as if), now McManamanaman (allegedly). Next he'll be linked with Veron or Totti.

Amazing similarities with the mackems. Rumours surrounding 10 million pound moves for Internationals then a week later a Latvian is signed for 1 million. Little fish in big ponds.

SUNDERLAND are currently giving a trial to Strasbourg defender Pierre Njanka.

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Oh Monkey Heed stop signing players with names such as Arce and Njanka. He'll be after that Romanian international called Ivan Oddlefttesticle next. Supposed to be a the dogs.....yeh yeh I'm going.

Houillerpool are rapidly becoming despised which is quite an achievement given the widespread respect they have commanded since their heyday in the 70's & 80's. Their approach to cleverly unsettling players like Heskey and now Zeige is underhand and beneath contempt, IMO. So, Robbo is after McMananananaman now - probably moved for him straight after bidding #38mm for Figo and only just losing out to Real Madrid!

This Ziege to Liverpool thing is still bugging me.....if he switches then he deserves to be shot, it can only have been him or his agent who leaked the news about the clause....a real shitty trick...

Liverpool are currently training over here and are playing a friendly in the next town on Saturday....I might just go along and give them some "friendly" abuse....

Manure and Scousers, teams wearing red, think too highly of themselves and just seem to make it an artform pissing everyone off. As for the Ziege case, will be really disappointed if he does go. Makes loyalty to a club a relic of the past. But which bright eye idiot would consent to letting a player have a clause in his contract to talk to any team that bids 5 mil and above when you signed him for 4 mil. Even if the player insist on the clause, you should have it at double your signing price and not at 1 mil above the price you paid for. Idiots, I tell you! Just plain idiots!! No business sense at all.
