Is it true that Star 69 was written for/dedicated to Kurt Cobain?

No. Let Me In was written for and about Kurt.

No it was Let Me In, as Dan said. But on the topic of dedications, in the sleeve of monster it says, "For River", I take it that this is a dedication to River Phoenix, or is it just another of Michael Stipes cryptic clues?

"Let me in" was written for Kurt, but the whole album was dedicated to River Phoenix.

the album is dedicated to river phoenix but let me in was written about kurt. is it true that bang and blame was also written for him?

Bang and blame. Okay, I think Stipe meant Bang in the other sense.....it's a song about Kiss and Tell

As for Star 69, I think it's about a guy commiting a crime and looking for an alibi

As far as Kurt, Let Me In was definitely for/about him, & I think "King Of Comedy" as well. "Crush With Eyeliner" was almost definitely about Kurt's wife cOurtney Love.

Nah, I don't think Crush was written about Courteney Love. She said that but Stipe said later that was just a private joke between them.
