TIGI spray shine -- I'm not sure how shiny it makes my hair, but at $11 a bottle, it makes nice, cheap cucumber-scented hair cologne

Lush soap -- mmm. Scent plus texture. What more could you want?

oh, wait, I know -- Primal Tendencies soap. Scent, texture, gorgeousness. And it's a bit cheaper than Lush. I love it!

Olga and Lunaire bras. They fit.

Bonne Bell Lip Lites Mocha Mousse Lip Gloss -- the absolute most beautiful, tastiest lip gloss I've ever owned

Prestige Liquid eyeliner -- fabulous. Easy application, cute little bottle, low little price.

Bobbi Brown eye shadow -- kicks ass, as do her makeup brushes.

Chicken Voila, garlic flavor -- fast & tasty, for fake food.

all the quick-set nail polishes. I love them all.

That's all I can think of right now, but I'm sure y'all will remind me of more.

Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Castile Soap: I refuse all other soaps.

Le Curl Mascara from Loreal: Really works!

Boursin: is that how you spell it? the flavored cream cheese? good stuff.

Blue Shampoo from the Body Shop: tingly! woo.

Mentadent toothpaste: the "complete" type, keeps my teeth sparkling plus I'm drawn to the strangely wasteful packaging.

Maybelline Lip Express in Racing Rasberry: lipstick and liner in one, smooth and non-cakey.

Purell Hand Sanitizer: a must for someone who rides public transit as much as I do, makes you instantly feel less sticky.

Sharpies: just a damn good marker.

Walgreens is having a 2 fer 1 special on the L'Oreal Jet Set polish..just bought myself 6 new bottles....

Oh, I'm the world's biggest fan of Webvan, and rave about them all the time. No longer do I have to blow Saturday morning dragging my kid through the grocery store!

I also love those little pebbly, rubbery mat things made by Rubbermaid to line shelves. My car is practically reupholstered in them, keeps all the crap from sliding around.

Oh, and a product called The Stuff. It's actually a detangling spray made for grooming dogs, but once I sprayed it in my hair when it was impossibly tangled, and now I can't live without it. It works better than ANY product made for people, and for many, many years my hair was down past my butt, so I have tried just about everything.

Lea & Perrins Lemon & Dill Five Minute Marinade -- My new obsession

TIGI Bedhead Shine Freak -- A tiny bit of sparkle and smells sooo good (not cucumber-y, but I don't know what it is), and if I don't use too much, it won't weigh down my hair

Lancome Definicils Mascara -- World's Most Perfect Product, Ever

Estee Lauder Clear Difference Oil-Free Moisturiser -- Given to me by my friend Jackie C, and something I'll definitely be shelling out for in the future

Flash Antibacterial Wipes -- I really don't use lots of antibacterial stuff (my husband buys it all), but these wipes make cleaning my kitchen work surfaces and so easy, and they're only 62p for sixteen

Romino's (yes, Romino's) Hawaiian Pizza -- Lots of pineapple, quality ham and loads of chopped, fresh herbs on top

Chupa Chups -- Yum!

Oh, and Triumph bras! I'm ordering every bra they make, in two's, just in case they ever go out of business.

-- Anonymous, July 26, 2000

I love Sephora. They have the most kick ass selection of makeup and perfumes, and I love their line of mascara. It comes in a rainbow of colors, and it is only $5. And their website has free shipping.

I love Blistik. The lip balm, not the tube kind. It's minty and fresh and if you rub some on your palm, then mix in a little sugar, then rub it on your lips, afterward they are incredibly soft. For days. It's the coolest!

I love all the Aveda products, especially the lipstick - it smells and tastes good and not lipsticky.

I like Hot Pockets and Lean Pockets - they take like 2 seconds to whip up in the microwave and they're darn tasty.

I have this excellent dish drainer - my mother gave it to me so I don't know where it's from but it's made of some kind of metal and it's shaped like ... ooh I wish I could draw it, but it's kind of an L shape? You can put the short things on the bottom shelf and then stand plates up on the top part. My dishes dry in like 2 seconds, which is good because I can then put them away when I'm still in the mood. Otherwise they could sit there for weeks!

Kozmo.com. I loved them more when they were having the $10.99 CD sale, but they still rock. Your stuff arrives in under an hour. DVDs, videos, magazines, food of all descriptions, CDs, books, electronics, etc. When they start selling toys, I am in serious trouble. I use the same shade and flovour lip gloss Gwen does and I swear by it. Love it. CoverGirl 'neutralizer' cover stick. Have a boo-boo? It's your secret. I may screw up the name, but it's a styling product that comes in a white metal tube with "9"s all over it. I think it is by Sebastian. I bought the tube two years ago, put just the tiniest bit of the stuff on the ends of my hair and voila, no split ends. I also like Aveda products like confixor and fixative hair spray and the shine stuff that comes in a cobalt blue spray bottle. Aussie's 'three-minute miracle' is just that. Karl Lagerfeld's KL cologne. Perfumes come in different categories, like chypre and floral and oriental and floriental, and then subcategories. KL is apparently the only floriental ever nmmade that is deemed 'powdery'. And they stopped making it in the early eighties, so I have to scrounge to find it. It's somewhat expensive, and eventually it will 'turn' and not smell as good, but for now, it's the best perfume ever. And I have a huge stash of perfumes and oils and colognes that I have tried and failed to fall in love with. (The closest contenders have been Anais Anais, which I'm no longer into, a weird blend I make myself with ylang ylang, jasmine, honeysuckle, cloves, violets and white rose in it, and Van Cleef & Arpel's "First", neither of which smell anything like KL.) The aforementioned Droste chocolate/rum pastilles, if I ever find them again. Dr. Chang's Long Life Tea, Ming Dynasty Original Blend. Finest herbal tea ever. Is naturally sweet. L'Oreal Jet Set nail polishes, especially 'Concorde', which is a decent silver-grey color. Painted my toes this color three weeks ago, and it dried in about five minutes and there's not one chip yet. I wear sandals a lot, too, so there's plenty of opportunity for chipping. I, too, like Mentadent toothpastes despite the packaging. Apple brand 99 cent 'gold' eyeliner. (They are also sold with a different name, but either way, they are at Sally Beauty Supplies, have a shiny gold exterior and cost 99 cents.) It goes on smooth and tawny brown, and is the best eyeliner for me, as a pale blond, that I've found. I'm currently playing with Girl's $10 Velvet Goldmine series (brown with subtle gold flecks and black with subtle silver flecks both look great on your hand but like nothing special on the eye) and I don't like them half as much. Blistex in the orange pot. I get chapped lips and go through pounds of this every winter. Love it. Cetaphil. Both the lotion and cleanser are great if you have sensitive or dry skin. Clinique "Moisture surge". It works. Need more. Prescriptives "Line Preventor". Works. Have needed more for ages. Wonder if it is still made? University Medical "Cell repair". Also works, without the flakiness AHA lotions cause. Bee & Honey soaps. More wasteful elegant packaging, but they last a long time and smell good. Alternative to Dr. Bronner's (peppermint or rose are my faves). Paul Harris sales. Accessories are usually a buck each. Fashion Cents and Modern Sense -- chains that sell extremely trendy knock-offs so you can wear the look for the six or so weeks it is hot without breaking the bank. Target. Evil demon store. Go in for a $4 widget, leave two hours later with a carload of stuff I can't live without any longer that cost $300 but, usually, no widget. How dare they have so much cool stuff for so cheap. Sanrio! Kawaii! Chococat and Badtz Maru, especially. Not that you NEED any of this stuff. Your life just isn't as rick without it. The boys just don't understand the power of Supercute. Ditto on the Olga undies and bras. They fit, and I have a pair that has lasted me 10+ years despite being flung in the washer instead of being handwashed. Screw that, who has time? No fading, no rips in the lace, no stretching, no popped elastic. (The bra WOULD have lasted that long, but it doesn't fit anymore.) Evian water. There is a difference. Harry's Farmer's Market roses. Two dozen high-quality fleurs for $12. They also have (for example) 'night-scented' stock for $4, astromeria for $4 and stargazer lilies for $5. If you're in Atlanta, go to Harry's for your fresh flowers. Pothos. A plant I can't kill. Green, leafy, abundant. Possible relative of kudzu. I'd recommend resurrection (peace) lilies, but I CAN kill those. They express their dehydration rather dramatically, though, so if you're the least bit observant and live in a dark house, get peace lilies. They are sturdy. Dr. Brown's sodas. Yummy. Flavigny anise pastilles (violet and rose). Benihana plum wine. Yes, Benihana's. It's good with crushed ice and a marachino cherry or two. Virgil's Birch Beer and Root Beer. Johnny Harris' BBQ sauce. Damn that's good. Allegro marinades. Basic boursin, from when I worked in a French restaurant (you can jazz it up with olvies, dill weed, thyme, but here's the starter):
1 clove garlic, peeled
1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
1/4 cup chives
One 8-ounce package cream cheese
Blend, chill until firm, spead on hot slice of crusty French or Italian bread, enjoy. Now I'm hungry.

Damn it. I forgot to put in my paragraph markers. Sorry.

-- Anonymous, July 26, 2000

Damn, Milla! I feel like I just went through all of your cabinets!

Lawry's Seasoned Salt, for my whole life. Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo - smells great, keeps the scalp tingling. Cetaphil is great. I can't believe no one mentioned Queen Helene Mint Julip Mask - great scary green color, last forever, makes the skin feel great. Bass shoes. These killer Ocean Waves polarized sunglasses. They have the polarization film between 2 clear glass layers so scratches don't show, and they make your eyes feel great (especially if you're on a computer all day.) Boursin cheese- yep. Corn on the cobb cooked in milk - yumm. Any Ken's Steakhouse salad dressing. Resolve carpet cleaner for stains - works great on hairballs. Dannon bottled water - just try it. It's cheaper than other water and bottled here at Ginnie Springs, which is fab. Amy's Frozen Enchillada's.

Physician's Formula Yellow Undereye Concealer--works great if you have blue circles under your eyes--evens out the color without making you look like a reverse-raccoon.

Aromatique potpourri and lotion. The original lotion makes you smell like a really pleasant garden all day. The potpourri just rocks and lasts a long time.

Hellman's Mayonnaise as Hair Conditioner. (apply it to your whole head, cover with plastic bag, rinse/wash after 15 minutes). It's disgusting...especially if you're not a mayonnaise fan, but it works better than any hair conditioner I've ever tried.

Sriracha sauce. (chile sauce). I put it on everything. It's great if you like really spicy/hot food.

The mix of foodstuffs and beauty products is very entertaining! Here then is my list of "gotta-have greats":

Chocolove Belgian Chocolate bars

Republic Of Tea's Mango Ceylon, Taylor Of Harrogate's Earl Grey and Yorkshire Gold teas and TyPhoo tea.

Alba Botanica's very emollient body lotion in Daily Shade SPF 16. CamoCare shampoo and conditioner, Camocare Gold facial cleanser and toner, Clinique's City Block, All Heart(Long Last Lip Shine), Black Honey (Almost Lipstick) and Ruby Melt (Almost Lipstick). And last but not least, Burt's Bees Changes solid perfume in "The Wanderer".

-- Anonymous, July 28, 2000

I've heard a lot about that Black Honey. I think a certain model uses it or something.

Vicky's Secret (Victoria's Secretion -- ha! You heard it here first! I just made that up!) makes really good hand lotion, but I hesitate to plug it because I object to their marketing strategies in general. Someone gave me the orange-tubed lotion for xmas, though, and I love it. Super-emollient, incredibly good-smelling.

I will only buy Charmin toliet paper. I also have the best luck with Finesse moisturizing conditioner. It's the only conditioner that will let me comb wet hair with ease.

-- Anonymous, August 03, 2000

I love Chick Fil-a lemonade and I buy it by the gallon. The best blush is Benetint, and I adore all things Neutrogena. Their rainbath bodywash is so yummy! I've also been enjoying my box of Pokemon cereal. It's just like Lucky Charms but with a cute pic of Pikachu on the box.

-- Anonymous, August 04, 2000

I love the Pokemon cereal, too! And it's been on sale every week here, too.

-- Anonymous, August 04, 2000

Yeah, my kid's love it too. And it's a hell of a lot cheaper than Lucky Charms. They now have Pokemon Pop Tarts, Mac and Cheese, Fruit roll ups. You name it, they have it.

-- Anonymous, August 04, 2000

Oh, damn. I'll probably start buying those, too. I'd prolly buy tampons with Pikachu's cute face on them.

Dude, I'm totally wasting my day online. It's almost 5:30. Oh, well. I'm really supposed to be in Dallas, so screw it.

-- Anonymous, August 04, 2000

Don't feel bad, Gwen. It's 5:45 and I've only been awake for about an hour today.

-- Anonymous, August 04, 2000

*this threads's so old, no one's ever gonna look here probably*...Gardanna, tell me more about mayonaise as conditioner. I've heard of this before and am tempted to try it but never knew anyone who had actually tried it. Does it make your hair smell like egg salad? Do you have to shampoo a ton to get the mayo-smell out, undoing the conditioning effect? I'm dying of curiosity here.

Bath and Body Works Cotton Flower Bath and Shower Gel - This shower cleanser is very thick, rich, and cleanses well without drying. Plus it smells like 1960s laundry detergent, which is a plus in my book. P.S. Cotton Blossoms have no scent resembling the one in this bottle. Those jokers think they have everyone fooled. Well, not me. But I like it anyway.

Baby Bees Apricot Baby Oil -- This smells so delicious, and I appreciate that the scent is of apricot and not stupid peach, which is everywhere. Enough with the peaches, guys. It is also the most perfect after shower moisturizer. And since I use much less lotion or cream when I initially moisturize with this oil, its also economical. Thrifty and decadent all at the same time.

Banshee Essential Oils -- Also smell delicious, have the above benefits, and also come in a cool bottle with a Victoria print of a beautiful banshee on it. I like the beauty products in my bathroom & bedroom to look like they're from a witchy apothecary, not a drugstore or the cosmetic department of Barney's, so I've got lots of crap like this. I am Miss Superficiality.

Smith's Rosebud Salve -- Lovely scent, moisturizes well, gives a glossy sheen, and comes in a generously sized tin.

Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Castille Soap -- Everyone should have this stuff. About a million and one uses PLUS the coolest packaging ever.

Aveda. I like everything from an Aveda Salon. Everything.

T. Le Clerc Pressed Translucent Powder -- The coolest compact ever, the finest powder ever, the best finish ever. I can't work with loose powder for s***, and usually don't care for the finished look of most pressed powders, but this is perfect in each and every way.

Lemon Pledge -- Provides wood with a gorgeous shine and smells so darned reassuring.

Lancome BiFacils -- The only eye makeup remover worth a damn.

Grape Nuts -- Delicious jaw aching fun.

Sundance Kiwi Lime Sparklers -- Anyone who wishes to bootleg me some would be handsomely rewarded.

Movie Popcorn -- Popcorn at any other time or of any other kind is just tedious and unfulfilling.

-- Anonymous, November 13, 2000

Jennerbee--I'm with you on the peach thing. I hate the smell of peaches. Especially FAKE peaches.

Solidarity!

-- Anonymous, November 16, 2000

Ooh, Jennerbee, where do you get the Banshee oils?

I like Kiss My Face moisture soap in Almond cause it smells like Play-Doh. In a good way.
