Why was mowing the grass of the compound at Ake such an integral part of schooling? What knowledge did a student get from mowing? And when the student removed the bad grass; why wasn't good grass planted in the empty spot?

What was the purpose of having the new king eat the heart and liver of the old king? Is this true or was it just made up? By consuming the heart and liver was the new king strong

In response to the first question, maybe they are just being mean or they don't have anyone else to mow the lawn. It might also teach them responsibilty and following orders.
