Gas Explosion Causes Building Collapse Near Haifa

(IsraelWire-7/25) A major explosion of a building in the Haifa area was reported to have taken place at about 5:50am, Tuesday morning. Police are reporting the powerful blast, which destroyed an entire building, was the result of a major gas leak.

Tens of firefighters and troops from the IDF Home Front Command search & rescue team are on the scene, moving chunks of concrete in the hope of finding a workman alive underneath the ruble.

The blast occurred at Naomis Bakery on Haifas Jaffe Street. Officials are stating with confidence that there is only one person trapped in the rubble.
