Help me please ... New ATI Driver 6269 made me crazy ! (AIW128-32meg)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Dear friends,

After uninstalled the old version, I install the new driver ATI 6269 which capturing video makes me going mad.

The AVI captured result looks like we see the video on a canvas ! (seems like the result captured .mpg on approx 3000-5000 bitrate).

And capturing NTSC sources make so many tiny-thin horizontal lines. (Especially on a rapid movement)---have tried interlaced, both and one field but got all the same result.

Then I uninstall that 6269, install back the old one, but then now capturing result becomes unpredictable : 1. Sometimes the result back to normal as when I use the old one. 2. Sometimes the result still like on a canvas (like using the 6269) 3. And sometimes the movie was split by 3 section, (full screen) Lower side took half of the display become still image, while upper side took quarter and quarter of the display, greeny movie and unwatchable !

Ooh..I'm very sad, would you please someone be kind enough helping me to resolve this problem ?

Oh ya, I've installed also directX ver 7.0 which is said needed to work together with 6269 driver, but in the ATI control panel setup, after checking, ATI never recognized this directX ver 7.0

I would be very grateful and appreciate it, if someone just can help me about this problem. (Or maybe just throw this ATI ? and buy a new one ?---no money....:))

Thank you very much.

Regards, Sunar.

Sunar,

I assume that your system is trouble free apart from this problem?

Sorry to hear about your problem, you say that you uninstalled the old ATI drivers?,which version ? Also, did you have directx 7.0 installed previous to installing the ATI 6269 drivers?

Did you install the complete and very latest complete direct x 7.0a release- available from the microsoft site?

Do you have a CLEAN ATI 6269 install, that is- DO YOU STILL HAVE OLD REMNANTS OF PREVIOUS ATI DRIVERS ON YOUR SYSTEM THAT CAUSE NO END OF PROBLEMS.

I would do a clean install again of the 6269 ATI drivers and double check you have the correct direct x 7.0a FULL release.

p.s I use the ATI 6269 drivers after using 6233/6277 and i found them to be the best most reliable and fast-they make my system run great! but you must have a clean install -with no unwanted old registry entries or old ATI drivers still on your system.

Hope this helps.

T.
