Solano next to go?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Football FC.Com are running a story saying YBR has lost patience with Nobby's trips back home and will listen to offers for him. #3 mill is the price quoted, which I thought was at least half price!

Would we really be that badly off if he went, Gavilan and Dyer should provide more than adequate cover.

I think he'd sell him, but not for #3m. At least #6m - perhaps #7.5m

Trouble is, who'd buy him if he is not playing 12 or so times a season?

Don't get me wrong when he's on form he'd be sadly missed but if say, Gavilan is playing week in week out, we will have so much more respect and affinitey(sp) with him.

Nobby's got to be worth at least double that 3m. figure, esp. if he were to go to Europe (Spain?), where the transfer fees have gone sky high - look at Anelka (from Spain), Figo (within Spain). If we can get >6m, then I say let him go.

Well if Beckham is worth 40 mill how much is Solano worth. Solano was higher than Beckham in the Opta stats for succesful crosses, so he must be worth 50 mill???!!!

I'd think he would be quite keen to stay - what with our ever-growing Latin American contingent. We'd stillget 30 odd games outof him which has to be worth more than some paltry #3M AND THE PAIN OF WATCHING NIM PLAY bliners in some other team.

God, my typing is crap. What do you expect from bloody journalists?

De B.
Having put your postings through a translator, I've managed to get the gist of what you're on about and I agree with you. I'd far rather have him on the terms we have, than for him possibly stick it up us with some other club. :-I

Pit Bill,

I refer the right honourable Gentleman to the answer Beardo gave some moments ago, albeit in Arabic!

If we could sell him to a Spanish side it would be better than see him providing crosses for Kevin Campbell at Everton.

De B.
Humble, snivelling, grovelling apologies, my mild light hearted sarcasm was aimed at Beardo not you. The words senile, brain dead, needs looking after, all spring to mind.

I still agree that we'd be better off with him than without, but maybe not that much better, if he went abroad.

Beardo writed:

What do you expect from bloody journalists? Cut'n'paste??

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2000

It's my ball and I'm going home if you all pick on me.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2000

Alright Beardo, you can stay, but only if you get digging hack-like amongst the dirt that is the transfer market. At least you owned up to being a Jjj...a Jou....a journnnnaaa...aaaaalllist. There you see anyone can say it brahms and list, I mean journalisssst. As to Nobbs, I say absolutly, here here. keep him. The way things are going for poor old Peru he'll have no fixtures after November. It will be as you were. In the mean time, we have some great midfielders coming through in Dyer, Gavilan and even McClen is coming on I hear not to mention the newly refurbished and rehabilitated Glass.....Nee bother there. Still worry about the middle and up front.

Up front?

Aren't Shearer, Fergie, Cort and Cordone good enough?

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2000

I don't think Solano is anywhere near as good at the stats suggest and think that he has been lucky to have so many good headers of the ball to be on the end of his corners, freekicks and even crosses. However, he's still a player we'd miss and I'd be gutted if we flogged him within the EPL.
