Looking to go digital Sony DSC-D770 or ???

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Working with files from other peoples digital cameras makes me want my own. In 35mm I much prefer the viewfinder & larger size on an SLR (it seems easier to hold really steady). I will be taking for our church newsletter and one of the things included are seasonal displays in a case where I need to use the 28mm end of a zoom lens on my 35mm SLR film camera. In 35mm I also really make use of spot metering for stage and back lighting.

All of the above makes me think the Sony DSC-D770 might be a good choice. Any Suggestions?

Also, I live in a small town and am likely to wind up having to order. Would be looking for the best price offered by a reliable company.

Lincoln: Thanks for the site information; www.cyber-shot.org really did have quite a bit of discussion of the 770. Most seem to like it very well. Although, as with any man made object, some problems for some. No other suggestions for doing what I want have surfaced!

Thanks again.

Forgot to include this in what I just posted.

Had never heard of the DKC-FP3 until I went to the site Lincoln suggested. I got the impression it is an upgrade to the DSC-D770 aimed at "Pros". Does anyone know what the additional features are and what that does to pricing and how much do you think any additional cost is just do to professionals being the target market?

Jane, I would post your question on the Cyber-shot.org site. I am sure you will receive answers from people who own FP3s and know the difference.
