Half time report

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Well, our tour is halfway over and there's half of it left to come. You know I was surprised at the changes that have happened in Washington since I was last there as a little nipper. What a lot of development has gone on there over the years. Mind, it's still full of w*n*ers as ever and I was surprised that we had to fly there and how long it took. My memory must be failing if I remember correctly. I'm sure it only used to take 3 hours in the Charra from the Marlborough Crescent Bus Station and that included a stop at Birtley.

You have to admire Alan Shearer. He is still in my opinion a world class player and he did his job the other night sitting on the bench, particularly when you consider it is such a long time since he's had to do this. In fact you know I never asked him to do that once for me last season unlike others I won't mention.

If any of you have any idea what went wrong against DC United please e-mail me at robby_bobson@yahoo.co.uk as I have no idea what was going on. I know a number of you are wondering what happened to Duncan Ferguson. Well I can admit that you are not alone in that. The truth is I forgot he was there and didn't pick him. I can honestly say that I have no intention of selling him to Everton unless I can get a big wedge of the #7M Newcastle United paid for him (despite what the Chairman said). I was very pleased with Carla Cork. He did exactly what a number of you predicted and I am very pleased he matched your expectations so quickly.

So where do we go from here? For sure (sic) we have come a long way and I do know where we are going next. On Wednesday we are away to the Crew and it will be nice meeting up with Dario Gradi at Gresty Road. I have a lot of respect for him and what he has achieved and I would swap with him any time. I'm a bit concerned of the effect all this travel is having on the squad. That is why I will be concentrating on the Mrs Worthington next season as it involves much less travel than those European competitions.

As I said only last week (or was it the week before? I forget) there's too much foreign influence in British football and I intend to put that right. I mean, you know just look at Peytor Heed. You don't see him spending lots of money on foreign talent. In fact you don't see him spending lots of money. Come to think of it he doesn't buy any talent either.

Well I'm looking forward to our trip to Crewe. It will bring back lots of memories for me. 0-6-0, 4-6-2 and 4-4-0. And I'm not talking about scores or team formations. No, the age of steam will be coursing through my veins. Wednesday is the day we will get right back on track.

Robby,
If you need a literary agent to help you sort out your memory memoires prior to publication, once your stint of renaming the NUFC playing staff is over, gizza bell and I'll try to fit you in.
