ROBINSON MOVE COLLAPSES by Alex Livie

PAUL ROBINSONs proposed move from Newcastle to Wimbledon has fallen through. The player had apparently agreed a fee and personal terms, but the #1.5 million move has collapsed with the reason as yet unknown.

Contrary to reports that the 22-year-old Sunderland-born forward had signed for the Dons, this confirmed Magpies boss Bobby Robson's opinion that the deal would not be completed until Monday.

Although there was no official comment from Wimbledon, other than that the deal had collapsed, it is highly likely to have been due to a medical, as Robinson had reportedly agreed personal terms with the South London club.

Maybe this is the lucky break he needs to kick-start his career. Who's to bet he won't score 10 goals for Toon this season? Me - probably.

According to today's Journal the deal isn't dead. They say Paul has asked for some time to consider the move. His Agent - actually former Durham cricketer John Morris - feels the deal is still likely to go ahead later in the week.
